Pow Wow Hawaii 2014 Opening Reception

“Centered around a week-long event in Hawaii, POW! WOW! has grown into a global network of artists and organizes gallery shows, lecture series, schools for art and music, mural projects, a large creative space named Lana Lane Studios, concerts, and live art installations across the globe. The central event takes place during Valentine’s Day week in February in the Kaka’ako district of Honolulu, and brings over a hundred international and local artist together to create murals and other forms of art…” – Jasper Wong, founder of Pow Wow Hawaii.

To see what it’s all about, check out my previous posts from 2013 and 2012 ;) and also visit http://powwowhawaii.com/ and http://www.powwowcoconutwireless.com/ for up to date information on all of the festivities as the participating artists begin transforming the walls of Kaka’ako into art starting today February 10th!

But this past weekend, Pow Wow Hawaii 2014 kicked of with an opening reception curated by Andrew Hosner from Thinkspace Art Gallery at the Honolulu Museum of Art School.  Titled “Exploring the New Contemporary Art Movement,” the gallery featured nearly 50 artists from all over the world.

And the beautiful people who made this event possible – Andrew Hosner and Jasper Wong, and their better halves!

In addition to the exhibit inside the museum, Ekundayo and Woes collaborate on some live art out front…this is exactly what Pow Wow Hawaii is all about!
