I have these tremendous spurts of energy (usually following a double espresso from the amazing customized machine that the Italians have in house) where I get tremendously inspired to answer emails, create reports and blog. Confidence caffeine is a helluva drug. But for once I finally decided to do it. Emails, answered. Reports, created. Blog, in progress.
Last Thursday team Epiphany invited me out to experience an intimate pre-opening of East Village’s new Greek meze restaurant: Boukiés. Headed by IACP award-winning chef Diane Kochilas and executie Chef Steffan Sanders (of Pylos Restaurant fame), Boukiés was refreshingly light, beautifully decorated and quite the pleasant introduction to Greek fare.

I’m not a foodie by any means, but a good meal is unparalleled in my book. Just take a look at my Instagram/ Twitter/ Facebook/ Blog and you’ll see why I’m president of #fatkidclub! The wonderful KC joined me for a tasting menu of Greek small plates paired with Mediterranean wine. Poor lighting & hungry Emily meant not a lot of food snaps – the two below (Rola Melitzanas, Aromatika Kima and Garidas Psites, Saltsa Piperiou) were borrowed from Thrillest – but everything was absolutely delicious! My favorite was a tossup between the Yemisto Kalamaraki, Saltsa Feta (grilled squid stuffed with tomato, olives and capers) and Stifado me Hontra Paidakia (slow-braised beef short ribs in tomato wine sauce with caramelized whole shallots). MMMMM.! Boukies opens this week, so be sure to check it out and indulge in the outdoor seating on beautiful summer nights.

On a separate note: Instagram rules my life. Easiest photo processing ever and it’s like a micro-blog: what’s not to love?? I swear, it makes everything look more beautiful and delicious and exciting, haha. (follow me: @emmulate). Huge thanks again to Val + team Epiphany – always lovely seeing you and catching up! … until the next espresso kick, hehe.
