The Estria Battle is presented in partnership with Youth Speaks at the Life Is Living Festival. In it’s 6th year, the Estria Battle is the nation’s largest urban arts competition. More than 75 partners help make the event a celebration of community and culture. The event includes 4 music stages, an arts arena, skate park, local/organic food vendors, community organizations, health screening, dance stages, a science arena and more.

On October 12, 2013 the Estria Battle/Life is Living Festival was held at Lil Bobby Hutton (DeFremery) Park in West Oakland.
Along with a youth arts competition, blackbook battle, live painting and more, the main event – and this year’s 6th Annual Spraycan Art Battle –
had 16 amazing urban artists vying for the crown.  Judged by Risk, Codak and Doze Green, the theme
(only announced the morning of the battle to prevent preparation) was DREAM, honoring Oakland’s own Mike DREAM Francisco.

Pics below of this amazing event bringing folks together from all over,
reminding us all that being passionate about your art – whatever it may be – is where it’s at.
Do what you love and love what you do.
And in the words of Mike DREAM Francisco…

DREAM BUT DON’T SLEEP.
