I was talking online with Mark the other night and pics of this car popped up on the Fatlace forums. We were talking about how this is what we look at for a hellaflush post. A proper photoshoot, perfect fitment, and the right drop is really something that catches our eyes. This is one of the cleanest Accord’s I can remember seeing of this bodystyle. He did everything right without breaking the bank wide open. The fitment is dead on, and I consider that the right amount of stretch. You can check out all of the photos here.

What is a typical Lexus LS430 you would see at shows? It would be the typical VIP style, right? This vehicle built on a budget by my good friend Solomon Lee, has a clean simple look that did not follow his old VIP IS300. I have been in contact very much lately setting things up, such as the Goodguys event I attended showcasing Jay Pizzaro as he did his demonstration runs at the Autocross challenge and this photoshoot. Turned out, Solomon is super into the whole Hella Flush look and function as he and his fellow Goodguys employees visit the site daily. Just to get it out of the way, he isn’t done with the car and currently has a few things up his sleeves to make it even more flush. He’s currently rolling on Standard Coilovers with Five:AD wheels in 20X9.5 and 20×10.5 with illest stickers attached on all four. He has mad support for FTLC and HF, and I just want to let this blog post be a small thank you for what he has done for pushing the movement!

chicks car?

This is not a chick’s car… well it is, but this STi is not your typical girlfriend’s daily driver. This was one of my favorite picks from Hellaflush 3. I really felt it needed it’s own post. Kenny from Fatlace gave me some info on the car and it’s driver. I believe her man’s green Q45 was posted on hellaflush a while ago. Here’s what she said about her ride, “Alot of subie owners dont like low, they like function, but i dont know what they’re screaming at me about because mine functions quite well lol. The function of a car is to drive.. and mine drives.. so that means it functions.. right?” I like her thinking. The wheel specs on the Enkei Rpf01’s are 18×9.5 +15 with 215 width tires stretched nicely on. The ride height is possibly the lowest Suby I’ve ever seen. There is one WRX in the UK that might be close or the same, but I would literally have to see them both side by side to be certain.

Been looking for a good one to import for a while now. Sure there’s RHDJapan where you can pick one up for 30k but finding that diamond in the rough in Japan is a bigger feat than just buying off the shelf. (dont get me wrong, ill take one off the shelf anyday but you have to at least try to find one, right?)

Anyways, check out this 4 door skyline. Stance is great, offset is so-so but if you’re driving this car, i could care less about being hellaflush. I just want it low and clean. If anyone has a lead for one, hit me up.

I get a kick out of the internet and how a lot of new people who are discovering what we’ve been into for so many years now are into arguing about hellaflush this, hellaflush that. The HF site has been around for 5 years now so we’ve seen and heard almost everything but we keep treading along. Once a week, I’ll put up some of the funnier quotes and misconceptions about the style we call hellaflush. If you can’t laugh at this, then you’re taking this WAY too seriously.

This first quote comes from the NASIOC forums..
“i have nothing against what people like to do on their car, but it is just dumb to see all of the “hellaflush” kids bash on the vdubs for having poke/stretched tires in the rear. if you are into a certain style that may not be liked by all, then you shouldn’t be hating on others.” – vinxH, a Scooby Specialist

I can’t think of a time when we’ve bashed vdubs. As a matter of fact, It’s the vdub scene that peaked my interest in fixing up cars. Going to all the aircooled vdub shows as a kid is what got my internal engine revving and still does. Also, having a hellaflush car is about embracing all makes and models of cars that push the offset game.

“Catch A Bad One” comes from one of my favorite underground rappers of all time. Berkeley’s Del Tha Funkee homosapien came out with this jam in 1993 on his debut album, No need for alarm. His sound and style was embraced by the vdub community. You’d see del stickers on the back of bus’s, bugs, and a ton of air cooled gti’s.

Such a clean Civic, excellent offset !

There were over 1500 people, next event will be even bigger!

Even Miss Genevieve Chanelle came by to hand out awards and take pictures with her fans.

Bay Area local came out to showing how it’s done with his always clean Civic.

This Datsun 240z sure attracted a lot of attention all day long.

Even a Forza 3 Motorsport representative was on hand to give special owners the opportunity to show support for the game.

I saw this car on Speedhunters, and I really felt it needed to be shared here. The E36 body always looks so good sitting close to the ground. The vette wheels are so funky fresh that it somehow works on these cars. I love the reference pic with the standard cars driving by it. It really puts a perspective on how much our cars stand out from the normal everyday automobile. Thanks for repping Fatlace/Hellaflush also!

USDM Jam

If you are heavy into the Honda scene you will probably start hearing about this more and more, or you may have already heard about it from sites like NWP4LIFE. Essentially it’s Japan’s take on our “JDM” styling. You’ll see alot of the same styled hondas as you see in Socal or the Bay Area. I’ve seen images floating around online of pastel Civic hatches slammed on hellaflush BBS RS’s cruising on the freeway, or Japanese rides with USDM stickers like Hellaflush or Illest. If you type in USDM Jam on youtube you’ll come up with a number of videos that looks just like a Socal Honda meet only except it’s taking place in Japan. I only am really posting this video because of what you see at :59 seconds though

HF Three

What a day! It started out by getting up at 2:30am to drive with a pack of 15+ cars from LA (wrongfitmentcrew) to be on time. It was awesome seeing so many faces I’ve met over the years through the community, and I met some homeys that I’ve known for a while online but never met in person. I felt like I knew some of them forever (EQH, Jaymartinez, and RoyalT). It was a real treat to be able to hand select the top 10 cars of the day to give prizes to. I loved the good vibes I got, and to see so many people chatting about cars. The drive home back in the same day was pretty crazy on just two hours of sleep in two days with 11 hours of driving. We made it home safely (barely) and EQH got on a plane from LA to Chicago the next day to be home in time to work at Touge Factory. I had a big smile on my face the whole day… I’m super excited for next year! Thanks everyone!

My Perspective: HellaFlush III

And thats what everyone did for this 3rd HF event. Eventhough it rained for alittle bit in the morning, that wasn’t enough to stop 1500+ people who showed up to Blacktrax Performance in Milpitas, CA yesterday. We had a good showcase of all types of cars and makes, slammed and flush. People from around the globe flew over to CA for this event, from London to Japan, from NYC to LA. We want to thank everyone that donated to the Tsunami relief fund as well. All the money we collected will go into buying supplies this week for the victims of the natural disasters that went down in Samoa and the Philippines about a month ago. HFIII was a great event to close out the year. The world ain’t ready for what 2010 is about to bring…
