Our Story
Born in 1999, Fatlace initially started as a blog about the elements of hip-hop, with roots in music, break dancing, and graffiti. In addition to the hip-hop lifestyle we grew up on, cars is a collective interest among the Fatlace family and was inevitably incorporated into our company culture. Fast forward and Fatlace has evolved into what you see now, and we are still continuing to grow.
Fatlace found its first home in San Francisco’s historic Japantown, where it remained for several years before closing. This bittersweet end allowed us to focus our attention on the Fatlace Paddock in San Mateo, which now serves as our headquarters and flagship location.
At first, the Paddock seems like your typical shop with dope beats, comfy sneaks and kids up to no good, but stay a while and you’ll discover there’s more to us than what is on the surface. You’ll soon find out the diverseness within our team and the details that set us apart from the usual street boutique. Be sure to also check out Illest, where we’ve set up shop in the Bay Area, Honolulu, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. If you can’t make it out to any of our shops, there’s always our online store where we carry all of our latest products.
Love the brand and culture. I stopped by your San Mateo location and bought the “Hot Wheels” hat. Will be proud to be sporting around town especially when in search for my next Hot Wheels collection.
I love your lanyards! By the way when are you guys getting more of those teal green lanyards?
Hello,
My name is Marissa Lopez and I live in San Mateo a few blocks away from Fatlace Paddock.
I was interested in knowing if fatlace is hiring any part time jobs. I excel in photography, receptionist-personal assistant jobs, and basic sales.
I am currently a full time student at CSM. I also have a passion for cars-especially bmws which makes me drawn to working in shops like fatlace and that environment.
Please let me know if there are any job opportunities.
Thank you!

Wow, this is awesome!
Looking to get your AMExFatlace F-Zero2’s, and noticed theyre all 15″. Curious, I wondered why it seems a large majority of “JDM” wheels come in 15″, and nothing else. I have a 1987 MK1 Toyota MR2 (AW11) that I wanted to pair with the F-Zero2’s, but was really hoping to get a 16″, which led me to searching out 16″s and noticing that they were harder to come by than “JDM” 15″ wheels. So the two questions would be:
1.) Why are most JDM styled wheels 15″? and
2.) Are you able to make/sell an F-Zero2 in 16″ Why/why not?
Thanks in advance!

Hi my name is Mealon Ramirez just wondering if you guys are hiring right now I would love to worke there always have been a fan of fatlace hope to here from you guys soon thanks.
Hey how’s it going? I actually had some questions about a possible jiu jitsu sponsorship. I was wondering how you could go about being considered for that? I’m born and raised in San Mateo and it would be awesome to be apart of the illest team. Something with local ties. If you could get back to me that’d be awesome.
Hello, my name is Jorge. I am searching for a graphic design internship this summer. Currently I’m a third year graphic design (visual communications) major at Arizona State University.
I’ve been following your brand for years and credit my passion for cars to Fatlace & Illest. You guys have done amazing things that I would love to contribute to. I know everyone sends the typical ‘I’m a hard worker with attention to detail and time oriented person’ spiel but I’m here to offer you more than just a hard working individual. I offer the same enthusiasm you all have for the car scene with the ability to translate that into my work.
I ask that you simply look at my online portfolio which i’ve provided in your website portion of this forum. I hope to impress you with my production and would love to hear back from you. I would like to attach my resume here but there is no option for that. Just know I am ready and willing to provide it.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best,
Jorge Estrada-Ramirez
Dan Stoner of Autoculture suggested I contact Mark at Fatlace. I’m a history prof from Penn State finishing a really broad book about cars and youth in America from the 1930s. Near the end I include a chapter on the rise of the tuner car culture from the 1990s. It’s brief, but I need an image, if possible, representing a car from the early days, though a recent one would be fine. Any chance that you guys might have a picture that you could send me (high resolution, 300 dpi or so)? The book is academic, but hopefully will be read.
Thanks
Gary Cross

Just read your TE37 Everything article.
I too am infatuated with all things TE37.
I have a 2015 Subaru Forester XT that I have been building up for a while.
I am about to have a set of Bronze 18×9.5 +38 TE37 Sagas bolted on.
If you would like to feature my car in an article I would love that.
As far as I know, I am going to be one of, if not the first SJ Forester with TE37 Sagas
Please feel free to check out my IG account @4ESTRB0
