The Autoplus S13

In these times, what makes a car stand out? Good choice of wheels and aggressive fitment? Not all the time. This 240sx made its name the old fashion way: form follows function. When Autoplus built a D1 spec s13 for local competitions back in 2007, they envisioned the car’s future to be used by one of the country’s rising stars in motorsports, 15-year old Luis Gono.

 

This was also the first car to sport a Rocket Bunny kit in the country.

The car debuted in competitions through the hands of Francisco Blanco, the man who tuned the engine. This was also used by Nobuteru Taniguchi in drift demos. I remember watching “NOB” way back in 2009 when he admittedly said that he was forcing the engine/car to its limit. After numerous runs he called it “bulletproof”.

 

The car was seam welded and was scanned with blueprint for balanced rigidity. No short-cuts here.

Imagine how much raw sound this engine creates.

Brakes: Project Mu Front and rear rotors, Project Mu 4 Piston caliper for Front and Rear, Project Mu D1 Brake pads

KW Variant 3 Coilovers

Lower arms, Tie rods, Quick steer knuckles, Chassis stiffeners, Megan Racing sway bars

Rollcage: Cusco D1 Spec rollcage

Engine Management: Motec M8

Gauges: Motec D175, Stack Oil Temp gauge and Boost Gauge

Seats: Bride Low Max with Sparco 5 point seatbelt

Others: Sard Oil Catch tank, Exhaust Custom made at Autoplus, Sard Fuel Surge Tank, and Seam Welded Chassis

Drivetrain: PST carbon fiber propeller shaft, Driveshaft Shop Driveshaft, OS Giken Triple Plate Clutch

Luis, with only a year experience in drifting  recently finished 4th out of 35 drivers at Drift Muscle Philippines 2013.  Expect him dominating local races soon.
