Adventures in London

The capital city is my getaway and my place where I can be in a busier place than the countryside I reside in.  I took a long week out in London with Aimee who I met in Hong Kong back in April.  When I was in HK, I spent a good part of the last bit of the holiday with her showing me around and eating a tonne of food so I thought it was only fair to return the favour :p  She is from Boston America and it was her first time here in Europe, so I played tour guide where we had an awesome time here in London! Here are some of the photos we took over the course of the week.

2 people = a shit load of tickets lol

We both overpack apparently…

We stayed at the Pestana Chelsea Bridge Hotel, good location if you want to be near central.

iPhone essentials.  Power pack!

View from the hotel at the Battersea Power Station.

We was invited to the OnePiece party where they had a little gathering at Hyde Park where I passed by and saw some old friends.

The Oxford and Regent Street crossroad.

Seeing more new Routemaster buses since their release.

Aimee loves coffee…was never a big fan but kind of grew on me after numerous stops.

Walking back out to Regent Street

Apple Store on Regent Street

Heading towards Leicester Square and Piccadilly

Themes are usually put on at Regent Street’s road.  This time it’s celebrating Magnum’s (Ice Cream) 25th Anniversary.

Being a shoe collector/geek and fanatic, Aimee was adamant we visited the Nike Town.  It was big.

In her own world…

Nike ID department

Pretty sick decor

Nike Money Cat Pack

A wall full of great classics

More ID

Pick your flavour

Nike chandelier

Jordan’s…1985 to 2011

Jordan’s aren’t as popular here in the UK but was cool to see their History.

Lotus F1 store on Regent Street.  Surprised to still see it here with the money issues they’ve been having in F1.

Piccadilly Circus

One of the more iconic parts of London.

Chinatown London.

This is my friends father’s place, great food in here if you ever visit.

Covent Garden just down the road from Chinatown provides a more quaint side of London.

You’ll see sneaky pubs hidden down side streets of busy roads as you walk around where city workers and locals hang out.

Joe’s Southern Kitchen for lunch, highly recommended.

more so if you like Tequila’s…130 different types.

We fried chicken wings and the Beer can Chicken (Google it)…thank you Emmanuelle for the 25% discount too!

The excitement when she saw this place was epic lol Macaroon heavan!

Covent Garden still

M&M world.

Some nutters walking through.

A few night time shots on Piccadilly

Quick drink down Heddon Street off of Regent Street.

Nike Town at night.

If you ever need to go to a department store in London, Selfridges is your place to go and Harrods in Knightsbridge.

American sweets…didn’t even faze Aimee.

Not quite sure how these will taste.

Off of Oxford Street is a nice Lebanese Restaurant called Maroush, also recommend this place.

Food was spot on. Definitely coming back again.

The Mclaren Dealership under ‘One Hyde Park’ apartments.  To give you an idea, the Penthouse for the apartment here, sold for £140 million ($235 million) and can now be rented for £45,000 ($75,000) a week.

For one of the evenings we ate at this pop up restaurant on Kings Road, Chelsea at 251 Kings Road called Kurobuta - a Japanese style pub restaurant and it was seriously awesome.

Being curious

Sweet potato and Soba-Ko fries

Nasu Dengaku: sticky miso grilled aubergine with sesame seeds.

Beef fillet tataki with onion ponzu and garlic crisps

BBQ Kurobuta pork ribs with honey-soy-ginger glaze and Spicy tuna maki rolled in tempura crunches

Crispy skin duck confit, watermelon, daikon pickle and spicy peanut sauce.

Elizabeth Tower aka Big Ben.

London Eye.

Saw some great views from here, was years since I been on it.

Duck and Waffle…the highest restaurant in a building in the UK

Proved popular with couples.

One of the best views for a dinner.

This was my ‘window’ seat…epic.

Some seriously great food here, if you want to try something different, come here.

Oysters!

Let’s hope my next trip will be to America…it’s on my to do list.
