Story: Arcenal / 1.23.07
For the past couple of months I’ve been hearing about a track bike shop opening up in Tokyo. The owner, the infamous Yoppi of Real Mad Hectic / T19 of Japan. Yoppi was also the guy who bombed one of the steepest hills in SF which just happens to be a block away from my house here on Potrero Hill. During our visit to Tokyo this past month, I decided to pass by the shop called Carnival which just opened about 5 days earlier. Located between Harajuku and Shibuya, Carnival offers much more track bike gear than your average bike shop. They specialize in track bike and about 80% is geared towards fixie. At the time of our visit, they were stocked with mostly European frames as Kerin bikes are rather easy to find. Kinda opposite from the states as Kerin bikes are pretty much the rave. Carnival also offers their limited edition T19 Skateboards engraved blue Nitto Bar and Stem as well as special colorway Carnival x Grand Compe Hubs and Rims in 3 special Carnival colorways. Awesome stuff. When visiting Carnival, please make sure to visit WBASE which occupies the store front downstairs. Also make sure to check out the Carnival / T19 Skateboard DVD “Street Life” which comes out this week. |
