Eat ice cream, help the Oakland Public Library
It may seem hard to believe, with the seemingly endless cuts to city services (another round is on the way), but Oakland is going to be getting a new library next year.
That’s right. A new branch library is scheduled to open in East Oakland next February, at 81st and Rudsdale. The 21,000 square foot branch will serve as a community library for East Oakland, and also act as the library for two OUSD schools.
…And it needs books! The Friends of the Oakland Public Library are raising money to help complete the new project, and now Fenton’s Creamery is lending a hand. Through Saturday, 25% of the sales of their Sundae of the Month will be given to FOPL to buy children’s books for the new East Oakland Community Library.
The Sundae, called the Bookworm’s Delight, is a delicious fall treat, featuring cinnamon and apple pie ice creams topped with caramel, graham crackers, whipped cream, almonds, and, of course, a cherry.
So if you’ve been wanting an excuse to indulge, make your way over to Fenton’s (4226 Piedmont Avenue) this week and order a Bookworm’s Delight. Remember, calories don’t count when they’re for a good cause.

Stussy X Hello Kitty.
It seems like Hello Kitty is everywhere these days, well obviously since she is the most beloved pussy in the world (no pun intended). But ladies (and fellas), be ready to see her more frequently in the next month because our favorite kitty is turning 35! November 1, 2009 is the date and if you didn’t know this by now, you weren’t paying attention to all those Hello Kitty calendars that your aunt gave you for Christmas ever since you were 7. Shame on you.
You’ve seen Pat’s post on the upcoming Hellz-Bellz X Hello Kitty Collab, this time around, its a Stussy X Hello Kitty mash-up. Now before you get your panties in a bunch trynna get your checkbooks ready, the collection will unfortunately only be released in Japan on November 7th.

Creations Dessert House SF
On Wednesday night after I got off work, I rushed to try to make it to the free Weezer show at the Regency Center with a couple of friends. We were on our way only to find out that the line was 4 blocks long and that they stopped giving out wristbands that we needed to get in. It was only 7 pm and we were already out with nothing to do, so we tried looking for new discoveries in the city. Of course we were on a budget cuz we broke. We ended up going to Creations Dessert House on Geary and 17th. I didn’t get to snap photos because my point & shoot was dead. The outside looks like the other 25 Chinese restaurants lined up on Geary, which I thought was funny.
