Lexus Introduces Two New Vehicles Inspired by Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther”

Last night Lexus gave a sneak peek at two new vehicles that will be displayed at the annual SEMA convention that will take place next week in Las Vegas. Lexus teamed up with Marvel Studios to create and showcase a 2018 LC Inspiration Series production car and a concept dubbed the Black Panther Inspired LC. This comes off the previous news that a 2018 Lexus LC 500 will be seen in the highly anticipated film by Marvel Studios, “Black Panther,” which is set to debut on February 16, 2018.

The first vehicle is a limited edition 2018 Lexus LC Inspiration Series that features a unique iridescent Structural Blue paint and is the first of the Inspiration Series, which Lexus plans to create for each of its flagship models. Only 100 are slated to be sold in the US. Extra features include a carbon fiber scuff plate, bespoke white interior, 21″ forged wheels, and a signature Barney’s sommelier set. The vehicle will be available Spring 2018.

The second is a Black Panther inspired Lexus LC concept built by West Coast Customs. In true superhero lore, the vehicle has received a powertrain that gets an extra boost from vibranium, the mythical ore found only in the Black Panther’s home of Wakanda, sheet metal reinforced with a layer of vibranium weave, making the vehicle almost entirely bulletproof. In actuality the car modifications include: underbody lights, a side-view mirror with a panther’s claw, wide body, custom paint complete with Black Panther mural.

To complete the collaboration a custom graphic novel, titled “Black Panther: Soul of a Machine,” has been created by head writer Fabian Nicieza with the story following Black Panther and his LC 500 working together to thwart Machinesmith’s villainous plans to infiltrate Wakanda’s systems. Four chapters have been released with the second half to be releaed in December 2017. To read the first four chapters, visit
