Hey everyone!

Peep out the new website I’ve been working on with my close crew from EA Games! We’ve been conceptualizing and working on this site for a LONG time now, and it’s great to finally have all the hard work pay off with a live website! Finally we have something to show for our hard work on this project! haha!

I’ve been working hard on the project with my good friend Rod Chong - he is a former music video director (from the UK m8!) that will be producing some high quality film segments for the site…

I’ll be producing alot of high quality original content for the site - everything from high quality original photos (we’re trying to keep it always fresh!) to cool and interesting and funny (sheesh, at least I think they’re funny) stories to keep yall entertained!

Rod and I will be traveling all over the world this year to capture our youth automotive lifestyle content and bring you fresh photography and high quality videos! Stay connected!

For several years, I had been using this humongous 31″ black rolling suitcase on all my flights. I got it several years ago from Eddie Bauer, because of their renown lifetime warranty. Well, sometime this past year, it finally broke.

Since I was in the market for some new luggage, I decided to buy hard case luggage, like what I see all the Japanese peeps rocking when I’m at Narita Airport. This type of hard case luggage has 4 wheels on the bottom, and it spins 360 degrees, so you can roll it effortlessly as you’re walking. The other nice thing about it, is you can roll it upright through the narrow center aisle of the shinkansen (bullet train), JR Skyliner or Narita Express train when you’re in Japan. The huge wide Eddie Bauer luggage I used to have would always hit people on the elbow as I passed through, and it was super embarrassing for me! I had to walk through the train, saying “sumimasen” and “ah! gomen! gomen nasai!” a million times. Not cool. Kiotsukau! Be more courteous when you’re in Japan!

After doing alot of searching online and not finding anything I really wanted, I walked into Macy’s with some friends and found a pretty pimp looking, big black 30″ spinning hard case from Samsonite. What made it even more perfect is the fact that it had a TSA combination lock (you can’t lock your check-in luggage unless it has a TSA approved lock nowadays). Perfect. I was sold! Bought that joint on impulse… it was kind of expensive (definitely more than what I planned to spend on luggage), but I figured, screw it… I should have some nice luggage - I travel so much, it’ll be worth it!

So now that my fresh black Samsonite hard case is chillin out happily in my living room… I discover the Samsonite Black Label store, by Union Square in SF. DAMMITTT!!! I didn’t even know Samsonite had a flagship store like this! It’s dope! It’s filled with all sorts of dope luggage from their higher end Black Label line.

I immediately spotted some super fresh luggage with a checkerboard pattern that I hella wanted… but damn, I just spent a few hundred dollars on my Samsonite hard case, which is pretty high end and fresh in its own right.

But damn, I wish I knew about the Samsonite Black Label store before I bought my hard case! I just might have been down to spend an extra hundred or 150 to get this super dope checkerboard pattern luggage, cause it would look so damn fresh on trips abroad!

Right? Peep it. Hmmmmmmmmm…

Okay now. If you’ve spent any time at all looking through streetwear media outlets (magazines, websites, blogs, whatev) in the past few years, you know that tons of hypekids are all up on the fixie trend - expensive, custom limited edition ______x_______ fixed gear “racetrack-only” bikes with no brakes. They get these expensive ass bikes and then ride em on the street. I even have a few friends who are into them - like my homie Robby from 360vm and of course Mark from Fatlace and Mike from FakeRich. I guess everyone’s gotta have their hobbies, right?

But as for me… I’m not into bicycles - I don’t think I need a custom bicycle. I like CARS. A cool bike might have been cool when I was younger, but I own cars now - and I think it makes much more sense at this stage of my life to have fun with a car, especially if you live in the Los Angeles area. Everything is so damn far! All my friends live far apart! Can you imagine me hitting up one of my friends to go out on the weekend?

Me: Yo whatup Jay! What’s crackin?

Jay: Chillin, we’re probably gonna go out later… maybe go shopping by Melrose, or Fairfax… then maybe get a drink later. You wanna come thru? We’re gonna go chill tonight, and the girls said they’re down to come out too, so the crew is all getting ready to come over soon.

Me: Aight man… well I’m in San Gabriel Valley still, so I’mma start pedaling now, and I’ll be at your crib in LA in 3-4 hours.

Jay: Uhhhh…aight then………………….. (silence)

Come onnn! Bicycles might work fine as a mode of transportation for people who chill in a small geographical area like Santa Monica or Newport Beach or whatever, but I just don’t think it’s conducive to my lifestyle. Instead of buying limited edition wheels or gears for a bicycle, I’d rather buy rare Japanese racing wheels or a TRD close ratio gear set for one of my cars!

Anyways, it seems the DUB magazine crowd from the 510 is getting hype off bicycles too - but they sure aren’t the ultra expensive fixies that the streetwear hypekids are rockin! Check these joints out! They’re straight outta Oakland… scraper bikes!

You know you’re gonna see these things at the DUB Show any day now. You might see these things cruisin in the dirty south, or even the grove in Miami… maybe even featured in everyone’s favorite magazine, DONKS Boxes and Bubbles!

HAHAHA! I think these scraper bikes are ludicrous to put it lightly! Thanks to my homie Fred from TRD for sending me this video. (Uhmmm… you may want to turn off the sound. I did. Their song was sooo f*ckin annoying!) The video is hella funny though, straight comedy! Don’t you love the hook? “Movin on my scraper bike! Cruisin on my scraper bike! Scrapin on my scraper bike!” Brilliant. Oh man.

Just in case you wanna know which CD I currently have in the #1 spot of my Lexus CD changer…

“Everything Builds” by Longevity Crew.

Soooo many people have slept on this group for so long (including me) but you guys need to WAKE UP! Longevity Crew’s Everything Builds CD is so strong with fresh production and thoughtful lyrics. Delivery is on point. I love cruising down the street with Southern Cali’s own Longevity Crew bumping out the speakers. Especially Track #8 “I know” and Track #9 “Soul Chances” (kinda reminds me of a modern day take on I Used To Love H.E.R) Oh and don’t forget Track #6… actually, quit reading and just BUY this shit already.

By the way, Longevity Crew has officially changed their name to “Captions.” Personally, I like the name Longevity Crew better. But what’s the reason for the name change? Add them on Myspace to find out:

http://www.myspace.com/captions

http://www.myspace.com/longevitycrew

BUY THEIR CDs! Support real hip hop artists.

This year, I decided to spend the entire month of January in Japan (well, almost the entire month).

Here’s the short version: I did a few photo shoots for magazines I’m working with, went to a few events, attended some meetings with important peeps (but I don’t feel the need to name drop right at this moment), ate alot of good food, hollered at a couple honeys in Tokyo (well, I gotta practice my Nihongo somehow, right?), went to the Nissan dealer with my homie to buy a new Nissan GT-R, visited an ancient samurai castle (doooooope!), bought a bunch of die cast cars, cooked Filipino spaghetti for my Japanese friends, met a hot Japanese girl who speaks perfect English and drives a fixed up Toyota Aristo, visited the Snow Park that my friend owns, went to the race track, bought some parts for my car in Japan, chilled in Shibuya with my homie Kenta, got Taishoken Ramen in Hoya with his little brother Kota, met up with a custom jewelry designer, bought some more die cast cars, and took a shit ton of photos. Wanna see them? Hit me up and you can look thru my hard drive, there’s wayyy too many cool ones to post right here.

Here’s a representative pic of my trip though - Shibuya! I love that place! Shi-booooo-yahhh! Iii ne! Nihon ni ikitaiii.

Last night I met up with some friends (Mike, Chris, Trixie, & Diana) and went to SoulSessions in Chinatown (Downtown LA). The function was at Grand Star, which is a pretty dope jazz club right in the middle of Chinatown - kind of an odd place to have a jazz club, but you know the best spots are usually in strange places.

We went out there because DJ Kero One and Icy Ice were on the flyer. Most LA people know Icy Ice, but if yall don’t know who DJ Kero One is, you better educate yourself real quick! Kero owns a record label out of San Francisco called Pluglabel (PLUG - Promoting Love Under Ground www.pluglabel.com), which is bangin out all the hot new shit right now. They just dropped a dope new CD which has a few collabo tracks with Ohmega Watts and the Sa-Ra crew.

Kero is an old school friend of mine from the Bay Area, I’ve known this cat since like high school or something. Big ups to Kero for chasing his dream and promoting love for true hip hop all over the world. Oh yeah and add him on Myspace. www.myspace.com/keroone

Anyway last night was pretty hype. Kero One and Icy Ice were spinning dope soulful, jazzy joints and hard hitting hip hop classics all night long. There was a bboy/bgirl circle going on upstairs and the overall vibe was fresh. Oh yeah let me not forget to mention, there were plenty of hot women around… one thing that’s dope about hip hop functions, is the women that usually come out got so much style. Oh man, rockin fly fits with Kangols and glasses, don’t even get me started! Better make sure you make it to the next Soul Sessions.

That’s Kero with the backpack, talking to some peeps outside Grand Star. Like I said, pretty cool spot. The parking is right across the street, and what I like best, is it’s pretty safe, so you can feel comfortable rollin out there in your fly ass whip. Last night I drove out there in a prototype of the next version of the Hybrid Toyota Highlander, but I’d feel perfectly comfortable rolling out to the spot with one of my AE86s or the LS. Safe enough!

Kero One from the Plug Label Famalam rockin the venue… (I know, I know… his face is blurry in the pic, but I shot this with my small Canon SD800IS point n shoot camera. No flash, just high ISO with Image Stabilizer. Since I didn’t bring my Canon SLR out to the club, I couldn’t rock the high ISO X faster shutter speed X wide open aperture required to get him in focus. Plus the jackass kept moving to the beat. hah!)

Oh yeah… chilled with some new friends last night. Dig the style. And the frame.

Just got back from the Bay Area! This is my first blog post in a longgggg time. I’ve been traveling a ton, working a ton, and haven’t really had time to update my blogs much. For those who were reading my old blog every day, wordup! Sorry! But we’re bout to get back on track again in a hot minute.

Here’s a pic I took while I was driving on the top level of the Bay Bridge. We were driving back after eating Chicago pizza at the famous Zachary’s Pizza… and after visiting Hasselgren, the high end racing engine shop in Berkeley. Hasselgren is a full service machine shop and engine builder, they do some amazing headwork and engine preparation. They make 112hp engines produce over 300hp. Word to that.

They cost a grip though. So if you have a Hasselgren engine, you have to be super down, and not one of those trendy kids who are into cars for a minute, and then lose their interest altogether the next minute. Those “trendy kids” can F off in my opinion.

Stay Fresh and Stay True.

Have a nice day!
