Pancakes and Gaga Hair
February 11, 2009 – 9:38 pm | 2 Comments | submitted by dnyce

The other day I was craaaaaving pancakes..which is kinda rare for me..the idea of eating PURE carbs with maple syrup just doesn’t always seem appetizing to me..but I dunno, I guess I’m sub-consciously affected by CSB’s pancake month! So instead of wasting money at a cafe/diner where the pancakes may be good, I decided to make them at home myself! Well actually I used one of those pancake mixes from WF but still..at least it wasn’t just one of those “add water” ones..which seems utterly weird to me for some reason.

My favourite: pancakes and English Breakfast Tea mmmm (:

—————————

Forever 21 jeans, BDG tshirt, Topshop scarf, Gap x Pierre Hardy shoes, Zara trenchcoat (not pictured), Mulberry Bayswater (not pictured).

After class this morning and after doing some hmk at home, I walked across to SoHo to run some errands, and on my way picking up an H&M top for 20% off (pics later). Oh and in these pics I’m wearing my new F21 bleached jeans that Sha scored for me quite randomly.

I hadn’t been to SoHo in ages, like walking along Prince St and stuff so it was really nice to be able to roam around again, especially since the weather was gorgeous today.

More about the hair later..

——————-

Okay so now it’s time for the hair!

Recently I’ve fallen in love with Lykke Li. She is a Swedish singer and has the most lovely and semi-ethereal voice.

This is a screenshot from her video for Little Bit.

How awesome is her hair in these pics? This is basically how I’ve been wearing it for the past few days: really high in a bun..which tbh, is probably receding my hairline if I pull my hair too tight…so I probably shouldn’t wear it like this too often. I just pull my hair up into a really really high ponytail then twist it like a ballerina bun then tuck it in some here and there then done!

Now…as posted previously here, I am in love with Lady Gaga’s hairbow. After trying out the DIY method I posted about before, it was too messy and kinda hard to do if your hair isn’t ass-grazing length…so lucky for me, I found another tutorial from Strawberry Milkshakes that is ten times easier and kinda more realistic to wear out doors without people snickering at you and calling you names!

So this is how I wore my hair today – I wrapped the center of the “bow” in a chain hair-tie thingie that I made. I love it! So wearable and so easy! Expect to see these two blobs on my head more often (:

Oh and now on a personal-blog-related note, you can now read my other blog by typing in www.superwowomg.com
instead of the wordpress address. I’m slowly upgrading my blog..even though readership isn’t as high as I wish…I mean my stats are semi-high for me..but no one leaves comments! So please leave comments if you ever stop by!

Selling stuff
February 9, 2009 – 3:17 pm | Comments Off | submitted by dnyce

So as I mentioned earlier, I’ll be moving back to Hong Kong at the end of May, once school and all that business is over and done with. With that said, I need to start cleaning out my closest. I tend to be a pack-rat sorta gal..hoarding things I shouldn’t have in the first place..which also applies to my shoe collection. I used to buy just for the sake of buying so I’ve a few things that I need to get rid of.

Below are mostly women’s shoes..but I suppose if you have freakishly tiny feet for a guy, then go for it (:

————-

Nike Women’s AeroFit High – Moon Boots – Size US8 Womens

BRAND NEW never worn, no box as it was sent to me from some Nike people, but it does come in a nice little ziplock clear bag thingie.

———————-

VANS custom design 7.5 women’s, Black and HOT PINK.

These were actually a friend did the custom thing online for me. WORN ONCE. STILL BRAND NEW LOOKING. COMFY YUMMY COOL. No box cos they didn’t even come in one when I received them but a box WILL be provided!

———————-

NIKE MENS Dunk Low, dark tan suede-ish with red lining and coral pink laces (extra red laces)
Size US6.5 MENS, WORN ONCE.

I really really really liked the colours of these when I first got them, but soon realised that they don’t go with any clothes that I own and that they’re actually half a size too big. Yet another impulse buy. But they’re super hot and fly no matter what and still in practically BRAND NEW CONDITION in original box.

———————-

VANS Slip On limited baby pink SKULL BANDANA PRINT size US6 Mens or 7.5 Womens

These were hard to find in my size and the baby pink looks good against the black skull bandana print. WORN max. 2 times, almost brand new except for the sole and tiny bits of the edges. Comes in ORIGINAL BOX.

———————-

PRICES: I’m up for anything really, shoot me an email ( lai at d-nyce.com) or leave me a comment below and we can always work something out for the price (: Oh, also I guess payment in cash or paypal.

SHIPPING: NEW YORK CITY Meetups are perfect, but shipping within US = extra $10

OKAY BYE!!!!!!!!!

adventures in LOEHMAN’s! // H&M Coupon
February 6, 2009 – 8:36 pm | One Comment | submitted by dnyce

Damsel thermal, AA skirt, tons of chains, miu miu bag

So today after bundling up for school, we went to have lunch all the way up town on 55th and 5th. Then me and Sha headed down to Loehman’s on 16th st and 7th ave. It was my first time there and it looked just like any other discount “designer” store.

Normally when we head to these kinda stores we only check out the shoe section and the brassier section. The shoe selection was okay, lots of the same Miu Miu shoes (that I wanted of course) lots of Barney’s Co-Op stuff and a random pair of Loubie espadrille cotton lace up oxford type things and other random stuff too. Unfortunately, my minimal budget still couldn’t afford designer shoes on sale ): However, I did manage to take some photos of some of the good stuff they had.

Miu Miu mary janes! ($150)

Awesome wedges in canvas neonish pink brush strokey thing! (also $150)

Same in yellow.

Wanted these gladiator type wedges so so so bad ): forgot how much they were.

They had like 2 pairs of these left..which amazed me cos these are probably one of the ugliest Chloe shoes I’ve ever seen. Like ugh what is that tiny kitten heel type thing doing there!? Although I have to say the colour is amazing.

AMAZING Stella McCartney wedges. The wooden heel is bonkers. Seriously check out that ANGLE! Almost 45 degrees!!! Can’t even begin to imagine the amount of pain one must endure to look haawwwtt in these.

Same in Beige/Khaki (which I prefer)

Prada. The strappy thing wasn’t really working out but I just loved the textured vintage-look of the wooden chunky heel. Major height too.

These Jil Sander heels are so freaking adorable. They came in navy blue too but they were really cuties in pink. The only thing is that the straps were a bit too dainty for me.

I think my mom wanted these Lanvin flats. She has these black mary-jane ones that have a huge yellow puff ball on the tips where her toes are that obi loves to play with too. Anyways I might consider going back to get these for her if she really likes them. Not too sure about the satin though.

———-

Right after stepping out of Loehman’s onto 7th avenue, a HUGE, probably the BIGGEST, mastiff I have ever seen just went strolling by, trotting along in these awesome little shoes. He was HUGE like up to the guys waist and more. Maybe his feet were cold on the frozen concrete ):

Here he is staring RIGHT into my camera. Maybe he was shocked cos it looks like he’s giving me the :O face! Kekekekeke look at his shoes!

Look how HUGEEE he is!!

    ugh really? are you serious?
    February 5, 2009 – 10:00 am | 2 Comments | submitted by dnyce

    New York:

    Hong Kong:

I was really sick yesterday with food poisoning or something like that. I was literally in bed, or on the toilet, for like 36 hours. Really really really dying to be at home where my mama can look after me and make me really yummy congee.

So for some reason, I only recently discovered tumblr, even though I’ve known about it for ages, I just never realised its awesomeness. And since I pretty much have one of everything on the internet (blogspot, wordpress, myspace, facebook, friendster, xanga, flickr, twitter and probably many more) I had to sign up for tumblr.

I decided to dedicate my tumblr to “a photo a day” so I’ll be posting an image I took each day to describe/sum-up my day. Hopefully people will find it interesting, but I’m really just doing it for fun.

a day in the life…and BOW HAIR!
    February 1, 2009 – 9:28 pm | 4 Comments | submitted by dnyce

So I haven’t properly updated in a long while…but here’s a random snippet of my past Friday.

    8 a.m. i hate waking up

8:50 a.m. walking to the subway

9:20 a.m. pratt campus, walking to class

I woke up super early at like 7.45 for class..which is never fun. I mean History of Science Illustration, the title itself puts you to sleep and to have to hear a 70+ year old lady blabber on about something irrelevant pretty much makes you pass out. Although, she’s so cute looking cos she’s so old and I really wanted to take a picture of her but the camera on my phone makes a noise when I do ):

    1:10 p.m. at Udon West

1:20 p.m. mmmmmm shrimp tempura with curry over rice

So after class ended around noon, went to meet sha at Udon West in St. Marks. One of our many favourite Japanese restaurants sooooo good. We were hoping to catch Bride Wars in the cinemas but couldn’t make it in time haha.

    2:40 p.m. walking along broadway

    2:50 p.m. piggie cup!

Me and sha ended up walking around everywhere along Broadway and SoHo. I thought this urbie banner was really cool, how the words come together as you walk further down the road. And incase you didn’t know, I love pigs, like I want a pet pig more than anything. So this cup really suited me haha.

    ——Side note:
How can you NOT want a pig after you watch this:

    CLICK IT NOW

    ——Back to regular scheduled programming:

    4:30 p.m. h&m changing room
h&m skirt, urbie thermal, aa cardigan, luna bi from joyce circle scarf, white vans era.

5:00 p.m. cutest uggs ever at david z.

Managed to snap up a sort-of outfit pic. This is in the H&M changing room where I was trying on a $10 skirt. yeah TEN DOLLARS, you guys better head down to H&M before the sale is over. I didn’t end up buying it though.. anyways and this is probably the ONLY time I EVER thought uggs were cute, when they’re about 4 inches long hahaha.

6:00 p.m. dunderdon store on howard st

    6:15 p.m. opening ceremony store

After walking down Broadway we headed to the Dunderdon sale. I was hoping to find something good but there was mostly good guy stuff and like a tiny little rack of women’s clothes. They had some cute stuff but the deal wasn’t as good as I thought it would be..maybe I’m just cheap lol. We then headed to Opening Ceremony where they had this Japanese thing going on. Oh man I wanted like maybe 50% of the whole store, they always have amazing stuff but I can never afford it. Man I need a freelance job so bad.

We headed back up Broadway where I scored an amazingly cheap and glorious black trench coat at Zara! I’ll post pics later :) We ended up getting halal food for dinner and pigging out at home while we watched Family Guy on tv.

    ——————–

On a totally different note, a friend on facebook posted a photo of her DIY Bow Hair inspired by Lady Gaga and I INSTANTLY wanted to do it myself and found a tutorial on youtube that is pretty easy to follow and understand:

    lady gaga hair tutorial

And here is what I managed to do on my sister’s head:

Excuse the horrible photos and the messy baby hairs..basically I didn’t flat iron it like the lady in the video said and I didn’t use hairspray. But it turned out better than I thought and I can’t wait till Sha learns how to do it so she can do it on MY head!!

    Colder than you think
    January 25, 2009 – 7:15 pm | 2 Comments | submitted by dnyce

Oh man Saturday was soooooooooooo cold. The day before was so warm that I expected Saturday to be nice as well but I was sooooooo wrong that I almost cried. Now I’m from basically the tropics, so me and the cold do NOT go well together – wearing 8 layers is not fun. So anyway we just ended up walking around SoHo really briefly before heading home to play like 4/5 hours of Xbox.

I assume some super secret crazy vortex was opening up when I took this pic

And just cos I miss them alot, here are 2 of our 3 babies in Hong Kong:

    lol omg this was mid-hump.

    Brief Introductions
    January 24, 2009 – 10:36 am | 2 Comments | submitted by dnyce

    Hello hello!!

So sorry! Excuse my late introduction, I was innanetz-less for almost a week and trust me, it was killer. If I didn’t have my bbb I think I might’ve gone crazzzyy.

So hello! I’m Denise, one of the new bloggers at Fatlace. I come from far away Hong Kong but am currently living in New York. I am a graphic designer/artist and, as mentioned in that little description up there, I am constantly amazed at design, am insanely obsessed with fashion and can probably eat more in one meal than your average 22 year old. On a daily basis, I read a disgusting amount of blogs and after a one week internet-hiatus, you can imagine how much I need to catch up. My friends think I’m a typical Asian tourist, in that I take photos of all the food I eat. I also like to blog about my daily outfits and take photos of my pets (who are sadly in Hong Kong now).

So that’s that! I hope my updates will interest you and can’t wait to get started!
