So it’s unanimous!… NO 2JZ-GTE for me!!! I decided to go the uncharted route and do some hapa::import/domestic kine stuff! Yah most of you probably knew already from the teaser pic that it was a LSX motor… No need for introductions or explanations as to why this would be a smart choice for anyone doing a semi budget build like this one is looking for power and torque. So that’s not exactly my LS6 Tucker is guarding… I got an awesome deal on a LS1!

If you’re thinking of the issues you’d have mounting the motor in your chassis… look no further than DGR Fabrication! Dan will have a Lexus LSX mount kit that solves almost all of the install problems you will run into – plus they’ve got great support and are willing to help you with your build if you purchase a kit. Best of all the kit is pretty much universal and you’ll see why after the kit comes back from the machine shop and I get to the specifics on it. I was lucky enough to find a motor for $1800!!! yes that’s right $1800 complete out of a running 2004 GTO!!! If you do your research you’ll know you need the ‘04 GTO oil pan anyway so shoot… what a find! Was out of an auto car… but being able to drive it and know it was in good condition was a plus.

I was able to find a manual transmission np from a yard on the east coast… these things are usually more plentiful there so when you go looking try looking outside of CA first!!! Everyone was amp’d to get this motor in… so in it went and the first concept mounts were made! DGR is going to have these babies digitalized and sent over for billet machining! Just have to wait for their designer to come in and get to work…
