If you haven’t been you need to go check out El Grullense in Redwood City. Tacos and pretty much everything else there is bomb. No need for some “special sauce” to make it the jam… just good stuff! These photos were taken a while back when the GS was being built at DGR Fabrication… found myself eating here a lot. I enjoy a few carne asada and al pastor tacos with mild salsa personally. For some reason I think the spicy salsa just takes too much from the flavor of the meat.
It’s time you head out and grab a few tacos from this spot!

Last week was pretty hectic – tons of things going on including an important business trip to SoCal. Seems like I’m there a lot lately. Pretty much my 2nd home right now Jack says. I headed down to SJC and noticed something different. The new look into the TSA security lines… more room and access. In and out quick – we’ll see how this works out during the holidays hopefully no more 3rd floor action. I got searched because of my FitDeck just a warning remember to remove decks of cards from your bag if you’re carrying.

Whenever possible I try to meet up with good friends in town for a bite. I hit up Logan and Jack to see if they were down for some fish tacos. Though it’s not the summer in Huntington Beach Tuesday’s on Main are still really cool. Lots of people out (not as many as the summer) at the street fair. My good friend Frank aka “The Mayor” used to live down in HB and we used to head out for tacos whenever I was in town. Definitely miss those times!

Met up at the peir then headed a few feet to Dukes for dem Fish Tacos – only at the bar folks so don’t try to grab a seat in the main dining area. Best $2.50 ea spent on grinds in a while! Nice size cuts of Mahi fo sho! Though Logan got jacked on his 3rd spot LOL. Logan feeling home sick gotta start with some Primo…

That’s what happens in HB/OC… too much ass walking around you get caught staring! Thanks to Logan and Jack for always being down. Good way to start the almost week long trip before heading home to Norcal for the weekend madness in SF – FTLC10TH, Milpitas – HFIII, Pleasanton – GoodGuys Autumn Gathering and then back on the road again!

With Hella Flush III just around the corner I thought it might be cool to look back to 2005. Did this car start the movement? That’s a pic Mark snapped of me with one of my many S-chassis… There are a lot of things I miss and remember about that car – how streetable it was, how reliable it was, how low it was LOL… in all I thought it was pretty gangster.

I also remember the haters! Your wheels are sticking out, your tires are too thin, your car is too low… why would you run an 18″ up front wheel and a 19″ wheel out back? There are still haters… those people that don’t understand and do not want to do what it takes to make it happen and that’s fine… everyone has their own taste. For the sake of making this blog post not a novel I’ll keep it short.

I value function before fashion… I believe that no matter how good your car looks it should still perform well. Hellaflush does not mean that you need excess amounts of camber, a super stretched tire, a lot of lip sticking out of the body lines of the car – your car is still cool if it’s just “FLUSH”. If true motorsports teams and luxury exotics are running flush fitments and an overall agressive stance it must be for a reason other than just styling.

Here are some pics for those of you that came to the movement a little later before things got serious with people considering their fitment/stance…

Was this the car that started the movement? But I remember hearing Jerry saying “HELLA FLUSH” in 2005… and I think that’s when things kicked off. I’ve gotta give credit to some of those guys that pushed me to focus on better fitment/stance – Leroy, Van Jerry, Anthony, JDM OG’s.

The wheels and fitment that started it for me:
Stock body with a flat roll – Thanks Aaron(Dousan)
Work VS-KF Chrome with Gold Rivets
18×9 +/-0mm 225/40.18
19×10.5 +26mm 245/35/19
front: -3.3 deg camber, 0 toe, 7.5 deg caster
rear: -2.5 deg camber, 0 toe

DRIFTUNIT comeback?…

I decided to spend October 31st resting for a new experience on the first day of November… a Half Marathon. 13.1 miles of fun… well that was my experience at the 2009 US Half. I trained for about a month off and on for this thing and my goal was to finish in a respectable time (eventhough I don’t know what that is LOL). I didn’t dress up and party on Halloween instead I decided to watch Saw, carb up at Ozumo’s and hit the sack around 10:30pm. There was about 4,000 people at this run… more women than men! And they weren’t bad looking most of them… anyways onto the pics.

The course was awesome!… some of the best views during this run. The hill climbs weren’t so bad because of the awesome scenery. We got to run across the Golden Gate Bridge and back…

Eventually you get here… close to the end just around the corner.

I didn’t want to pay for these… but here’s some action shots! I was cruising the whole way… didn’t really push at all – maybe I should have but I met a lot of nice people along the way!

2 hours and 3 minutes later I was a half marathon finisher.

A long while back I scored a deal on this Pista Concept off of Craigs… I was about to build a road bike (will still do this) but always liked the way small fixed gear bikes looked when the frames were small – and since it was such a good deal… why not pick it up? So I did!!!

Of course it didn’t stay this way for long… actually I won’t even ride it this way LOL Thanks to Allan for helping me tear it apart – Internet shopping was nuts the night I picked the bike up that’s for sure!!!

Lance Armstrong’s LIVESTRONG Foundation is pretty cool… it seems that everyone has been effected by cancer in some way. I have a few family members that are cancer survivors and fighters – so why not support the cause!? I’ve been sick for the past week so I thought running the 5k to get back into the workout swing would be a good way to start. It’s only 3.2 miles and you really get to see a side of downtown San Jose most of the locals don’t ever see. The streets are shutdown and it’s quiet. Not that downtown San Jose can be as chaotic as SF or NYC etc… but it was a very enjoyable run.

Got there and checked out the venue map… checked out the message wall headed to the staging area and headed out for the run… it wasn’t a race though there were some rabbits out there – I ran an easy 25:50 strolling through downtown looking around while I ran. I wish I could’ve carried my cam but nah – finished and got a shot on the big screen LOL

On the way home saw these folks riding their big bar bikes… can’t wait til my ride is done!
Someone recently got a hold of my card number and charged up 4 Dell computers! I mean c’mon why buy 4 freaking Dell computers? Amex had to know it was a fraudulent charge because I wouldn’t buy a Dell LOL j/p. Luckily I was able to have a fairly civil conversation with their call center representative and get all of the information I needed – usually it’s a hair pulling experience talking to these people. I know it’s less expensive labor but c’mon how about creatiing some jobs here in the US and helping your customer/potential customer not have to fight through a language barrier to be supported!?!?!?

I know AMEX isn’t accepted everywhere… but it’s got some damn good customer service! Taking care of business was a hassle free process and the people I spoke with were great to talk to. They patiently went through my itemized billing to make sure there were no additional fraudulent charges. Helped me to log all of the relevant information for their Fraud Dept. Provided me with their contact information/employee reference number for my records and that was that. No call center overseas using fake names like Paul Smith sounding like they were in Slumdog Millionare (Prashant and Ranjeet were okay with this line) or my Unlce Boy (it’s okay I’m Filipino). Some of these other CC reps don’t even want to give you their full name for your records let alone a reference number. So don’t forget to monitor your accounts and credit… damn thieves are defintely out there always looking to get you! Anyways just another reason I’m a loyal American Express customer – “Don’t leave home without it!”

It’s crunch time… so many things to do and so little time. It’s always like this when you build a car it seems no matter how well you plan! The car is back from paint but not finished so more time there later… not going to unvail the whole look of the car until it’s complete. But the motor is finally in thanks to the awesome LSX mount kit from DGR Fabrication! Can’t wait until it’s running! So much to do and I’m sick… ugh! Missing UFC100 in Vegas damn!!!

But look how nice the motor sits in the engine bay… no problems at all oh and for those of you asking about the Tremec T56 – check it NO PROBLEMO!!!
