NEW YORK, NY June 27, 2009 —The Metropolitan Transit Authority fare hike for subways and buses takes effect at 12:01am Sunday.
The MTA will have a grace period for previously purchased Metrocards but, otherwise, a seven-day unlimited Metrocard will cost $27 and the price of a 30-day Metrocard rises to $89.
The cost of a single ride increases from $2 to $2.25.
