One-OFF

For now… its a One – OFF.

Finally got around on finishing the Japan Photo Book and let me tell you, this is a challenge that I set myself to finish the book with the best quality possible while keeping it clean, simple yet creative. Its hard sorting through thousands of pictures (not only digital but also Film), resizing them and creating some sort of sense while keeping the reader flipping through the pages.

Before I left to Formula Drift Sonoma I had some photos edited and re-sized but I had been re-sizing the photos with the wrong measurements which set me back a whole week. Once I got back to NYC I worked around the clock for the last 3-4 days to get this done and Sent to WHCC (White House Custom Colour) and look at the final results.

I have never done a book and I was not aware of how much work this type of project requires. One thing I’m certain, this one will not be the last one. This book cost more than I expected but at the same time the book measure 14×11 @ 80+ pages with a Dust Jacket.

This is how the final result should look like – Starting with a Print Screen of the Dust Jacket – Photoshop CS4

Dust Jacket - Photo Book - CS4

Then, Half way through the book you will find something like this – the Intro to the 35mm photos

Film Intro - Photo Book

The Negative Scan are untouched – only re-sized to fit the book and added a black border to give it a more “Clean/Simple” look to it.

Film Pages - Photo Book

And this is a bit of a secret but there will be 3 panoramic shots in the book – Lay the book open and you will get something like this…

Digital Panoramic - Photo Book

Should have the book in hands by Tuesday Sept 8th (next week)… by then I should get an Idea of a bigger production and more affordable printed book for Friends & Family.

Stay tuned,
