I’ve been at the track 2 days in the last 2 weeks. It’s great to get out of the office every once in awhile and despite the California heat it’s never really a bad time.

Last week Red Bull and their drivers Rhys Millen (Formula DRIFT) and AJ Allmendinger (NASCAR) had a small private event. The event featured Rhys teaching AJ the art of drifting. This took place at the San Bernardino Sheriff’s training center (in the boondocks). The training center featured a driving course complete with skid pad, train tracks, oval, and more. Utilizing the road course section Rhys was able to teach AJ the finer points in drifting. This was interesting to me as NASCAR drivers are not just used to going left, but also have the innate sense to correct themselves while driving straight whenever their tires get a little squirrely. AJ actually picked it up pretty good and got the hang out of it by the end of the day.

The second event was yesterday for MTV Tres’ (Hispanic MTV) “Pimpeando” or “Pimp My Ride”. We secured a feature on this show for Formula DRIFT. FD drivers Chris Forsberg, Rhys Millen, and Kyle Mohan were joined by co-founder Ryan Sage and judge Ernie Fixmer. This event took place at the “House of Drift” Irwindale Speedway. It was hot…easily in the upper 90’s. But hopefully MTV got what they needed and the show will be out with the new season this Fall. Also as the host of this was hispanic rapper, Omar Cruz (the guy in the new Game video).
