Kimbo Don’t Limbo
The over-hyped Kimbo Slice finally got his first loss in his MMA career in last night’s Elite XC match. Kimbo was scheduled to fight MMA veteran Ken Shamrock, but because Shamrock received a laceration above his eye in training he has not allowed to fight. UFC scrub Seth Petruzelli took his spot and beat Kimbo up in 14 seconds.
I used to be a fan of Kimbo back when he just did backyard brawls, but stepping into a professional arena is a different story. Sure he is marketable, but far from being a true legit MMA fighter and this loss proves it. His other wins over a washout boxer Ray Mercer, a nobody Bo Cantrell, a old and out of shape Tank Abbott, and a controversial win over James Thompson - where the ref stopped the fight with Thompson still standing hardly prove that Kimbo is ready for any real fighters.
Kimbo I feel gives a bad wrap to MMA. Not only because his beard is full of ghery curl juice and his posse is just straight up ghetto, but because this is what new fans of MMA are exposed to on national television rather than to fighters such as BJ Penn, GSP, or Anderson Silva. He would be great on WWE…or maybe try to fight Brock Lesnar, but then again Brock would destroy him.
This image below is of Elite XC, Vice President Jared Shaw, who is basically screaming at the ref that there was an illegal blow to the back of the head. I never see Dana White getting crazy when one of his star fighters is losing. Guess that’s what happens when you place your bankroll on an internet sensation.
He should stick to promoting Gina Carano, at least she’s easier on the eyes and can fight.

can you imagine if you had hunted for tickets at a rape prices, traveled to the fight and waiting in obscurely long lines to get in… only to have it over in 14 seconds?

He should stick to his street hustle game, but now that he’s crossed over to the commercial side and lost terribly I think he lost alot of his respect. I guess we’ll see.
