Represent Kobe

Los Angeles is going crazy right now as the Lakers head into Game 4 of the NBA Finals for the 2nd year in a row, while up 2 games to 1 against the Magic, the stage is set for the Lakers to bring in another Championship. Leading the way is none other than Kobe Bryant and a couple creative friends of mine have started project “RepresentKobe” to showcase their loyalty to the team and create a buzz while doing so.

Represent Kobe was started by the guys over at 0484creative. They are the average die-hard Laker fans that wanted to look at a significant figure like Kobe and capture the energy and emotion of other fans.

The plan of attack is grassroots marketing and armed with a staple gun, duct tape, and hundreds of self printed T-shirts and posters they set out on the streets of LA to create a stir. Posters were hung-up everywhere in LA from Fairfax, Melrose, to right in front of the Staples Center. T-shirts and posters were handed out during Game 1 to fans and this was documented and will be put together as a short clip that will be entered into the short film competition at the Los Angeles Film Festival later this year.

What I love about this project (other than it supports the Lakers) is that it’s not about making money (even though shirts are available online) for them as much as it’s about sharing their passion with others and bringing fans together. Even Eddie Cruz of Undftd Twittered it up. Spread the word.
