Washington D.C. mini trip
June 4, 2007 – 8:52 pm | Comments Off | submitted by John iD Agency

After Formula DRIFT West Virginia the FD crew had some time to kill so we hit the nation’s capital before heading out for our flight back to LA. We checked out some of the sites, but it was pouring rain so we made it quick.

On the way to check out other sites there was a Filipino festival going on…so you know I had to represent!

We stopped by the Beer Garden for some San Miguel beer…yum!

Jim looked like a little banana / flavored condom…but at least he was dry!

We hit up one of the museums and checked out the Dinosaur section and Mammals.

Formula DRIFT Round 3 Results
June 4, 2007 – 12:05 am | Comments Off | submitted by John iD Agency

Another exciting event for Formula DRIFT. The Top 16 battles were intense. A couple of the stand-out matches were Ryuji Miki and Hayashida going at it. Dai Yoshihara and Matsuru Haraguchi also gave the crowd an exciting battle as they kept it super tight and close even after the 1 more time! The local favorite JR Gitten was not able to fix his Falken Mustang and managed to get his secondary 240 into the competition. He ended up crashing out, but gave the crowd an awesome show…luckily there was padding against the K rail. The Fast and Furious stunt drivers came out on top with Sam Hubinette in his Mopar Charger taking 1st place, Tanner Foust taking 2nd, and Rhys Millen taking 3rd.

Here are the pics and top 10 standings.

Formula DRIFT “Takeover” West Virginia Update
June 1, 2007 – 9:44 pm | Comments Off | submitted by John iD Agency

All I have to say is Summit Point Raceway is in the middle of nowhere! After driving through the woods and seeing a Civil War soldier complete with musket…we found the track and it’s amazing. There are 3 separate courses. The Shenandoah course that FD will be using is great. Super fast straightaway to a blind turn uphill slope to tighter technical turns. The feedback from the drivers is that this course is great and new…Here’s some pics and the unseeded drivers that qualified.

Fatlace / Driftunit’s Calvin Wan and his G35 – check out the huge wing

Bullrun 2007
May 28, 2007 – 8:42 pm | One Comment | submitted by John iD Agency

Finally found the time to got through all 300 or so pics I took from the Bullrun. Here’s my little adventure…

Flew in for the last leg of the Bullrun – Miami to Key West. Met up with the Bullrunners at the Ritz Carlton in the early morning. Got to take a power nap on the beach…since I got in at 5 AM.

The cars lined up in front of the Ritz…some crazy cars. My favorite was the DTM CLK!!!

Here’s what we took on the rally. I took my pimped out rental Chevy HHR!

“What about speed?”…”If you’re important, people will wait.” – Be Cool

While Vic (ID Agency) and Dan (Vivid Racing) took Dan’s Porsche Turbo. Dan wrapped his entire car in white vinyl to keep the yellow paint clean from rock chips and to stay low-key…the stickers probably didn’t help though. Somehow I managed to keep up with everyone on the rally haha.

Claus the owner of CEC took a Techart Magnum on the rally. He is a mad man driving…with his average speed ranging about 120 on his Nav. He ended up “winning” the rally with the best overall time, but the rally isn’t really a race ;) He did get his fair share of tickets from the MAN…but used his German license to evade jail time. Here’s a his baller story…from Marathon after receiving the route card he jumped into a speed boat full with Bullrun/CEC/European Car graphics…the boat broke down, so he called and got a private jet to take him the rest of the way to the Finish Line.

The first stop for breakfast was the CEC showroom (see previous blog) from there we headed down to Marathon in Key West.

Bullrunners get their route cards at each checkpoint. It tells them where the next checkpoint or hotel is…once they get them its off to the races.

In Marathon…the cars lined up to be displayed and we grabbed lunch. Some decided to take boat rides. Some of the guys from the Bullrun reality show came for the rally too including Team Camaro, Team Scion, Team Lotus, and Team F150.

Even a Carrera GT was in the rally and got a ton of tickets.

From Marathon we got a police escort to the Finish Line at the end of Key West. It was crazy as the cars parked and it seemed like the entire city came out to check everything out. Even the radio stations were hyping it up.

These pics from Marathon are for Mark!

Paris Hilton was supposed to be on this leg of the rally too…but with her DUI thing the rally was probably a bad idea.

Our boy Tyson Beckford (model/actor/drifter/host of new show Fine Tuned) made it out…must be nice to be him and have hot chicks all over him all day long…lol

Then it was off to the hotel for some drinks by the pool. We had an amazing dinner on the beach. A couple crazy dudes from the UK took a fully built Peugot rally car, but it broke down b/c of the long distance runs. So the guys that took that decided to rent 2 Crossfires…everyone wondered why they each got one. We soon found out it was so they could play bumper cars…the rental insurance came in handy.

Overall it was a great trip. Not sure if I could ever do a complete rally and the 3000 plus miles. But we’ll see next year ;) .

Friday night w/ DJ Steve Aoki
May 27, 2007 – 12:41 pm | Comments Off | submitted by John iD Agency

I didn’t take many pics, but I did have many drinks lol. Started with dinner at Kantina in Newport Beach (The entire Gracie family and Junior Seau (football player) were there)…that would of been one crazy brawl if a fight broke out. Then hit Tentation for Steve Aoki …for some reason it just wasn’t that packed. Then headed out to another club to end the night with free drinks…great start to Memorial Day weekend.

Miami Trip – Love Hate and 5 star view!
May 25, 2007 – 7:33 pm | 2 Comments | submitted by John iD Agency

Here are the Miami pics I promised. Sorry for the lag…work has been busy!

So after leaving Key West for the Bullrun (blog coming soon I promise) we headed back to Miami for the rest of the weekend and the CEC grand opening (check separate blog).

Checked in to the Mandarin Oriental hotel. Super plush. I highly recommend staying there and getting a water view. Also check out the sushi bar by the pool…so good. I love Toro sushi!

The view from the room was amazing! And super comfy like a W hotel. Baller style…if you want to impress a chick bring her to this hotel! On second thought…get a room then meet a super hot Latina model in South Beach and bring her back!

After a killer dinner at Ago’s in the Shore Club with CEC and media peeps. (note: Shore Club is model central) Vic, Rob (European Car), and I hit up Love Hate bar. Love Hate is owned by the Miami Ink dudes…Chris Nunez and Ami. The spot is hot! No joke 4 to 1 ratio of girls to guys. Awesome music with DJ’s mashing up all night from Mickey Avalon to the Roots. The atmosphere is that of a high end lounge, but with a super chill crowd. Must stop for people wanting to party and have a good time with beautiful people and not have to deal with the velvet rope and how many bottles you need to buy or the Cuban dude with his shirt unbuttoned rocking the hairy chest!

Chris Nunez is also a super cool cat…thanks for the drinks homey! Maybe one day I’ll get a tattoo, if I ever get over the needles part.

After getting back to the hotel around 5AM or was it 6? Crashed out…got up to meet with my cousin for her b-day! Ate some dope Cuban food. On the way to South Beach to do some shopping…I guess it stormed in the morning..slept through the whole thing…check out the water! Good thing I had a rental Chevy HHR and was able to mash through the rivers lol…sorry to the dude on the bike that I splashed.

Got back to the hotel then headed to CEC for the grand opening…But before leaving Miami I got this shot from the balcony of the hotel room. Probably one of the best photos I’ve ever taken.

I love Miami…except for the humidity it’s all good. hmmm Fatlace x Miami???

Bullrun 2007 – 31 Hrs 59 Mins NY to LA -Richard Rawlings and Dennis Collins Break Coast-to-Coast Record

Los Angeles, Calif. – May 22, 2007 – In the early hours of Monday 14th May 2007, Bullrunners Richard Rawlings and Dennis Collins of Texas broke the almost 30 year old coast-to-coast road trip record of 32 hours and 51 minutes. They decided to attempt the record after taking a bet on the start line of the 2007 Bullrun Rally. They were bet $50,000 by a fellow entrant that this time would never be bettered in the modern era. Abandoning this years route of Montreal to Key West, they drove to New York City and prepared for a night start.

Brock Yates created the idea modern rally when he started the infamous Cannonball Runs. Since then Bullrun has taken on the mantel of the modern navigational rally replacing out and out point to point racing with their version of luxury car rallies including celebrities and drivers from around the world and a huge TV franchise supporting the Bullrun brand.

In 1979, the winning Jaguar XJS achieved an incredible time of 32hrs 51 minutes from New York to the Portofino Inn in Redondo Beach. Many thought this legendary ‘Sea to Shining Sea’ endurance time would never be beaten and indeed has proved unbreakable until now.

Having already heavily prepared their Ferrari 550 for this years’ Bullrun Rally, Montreal to Key West, they felt they had a real chance to challenging the time. With extra fuel cells and an onboard spare tire they left Manhattan on the evening of May 12th. They phoned their wives, who promptly flew to LA to greet the would be champions.

Having created motoring history by doing the cross country run in 31 hours and 59 minutes, Dennis and Richard caught up with the Rally in time for the final days from Georgia to the finish line celebrations in Key West.
