The Hundreds
October 3, 2009 – 8:20 pm | 4 Comments | submitted by mark fatlace

I connected with Corgi from The Hundreds to pick up one of their latest toy figures designed by Michael Lau. I’ve always admired his work being that he was at the forefront of fresh character designs and pretty much started it all. I had a chance to meet Mr. Lau in Beijing during the Olympics kick off last year when he created some one off’s for Nike’s 6.0 team but never really got to know him even though he is married to an old co-worker.

Anyways, I passed by the Hundreds office so I could pick up the toy since we were driving back up north from our Disneyland vacation. I’ve never been to their office so it was a good time to just drop by and say hi to the fellas.

I didn’t know what to expect but I was impressed by the operation they had going. I love how those guys are kicking ass and it looked like there was a staff of at least 20 deep. Said whatup to Scottie and Passed by Bobby’s office and talked about kids and socks.

Alonso on Ferrari? C’mon man…
October 3, 2009 – 12:52 am | 3 Comments | submitted by mark fatlace

report-alonso-has-secret-four-year-deal-to-join-ferrari-f1

Just when you thought the dirtiest driver/world champion EVERRR could get away with almost murder, he pulls another rabbit out of his hat. Now the cheat Alonso has signed a mega million dollar 3-year contract with Ferrari.

How could he not know about his team cheating their way to winning Singapore? It’s so obvious

More memorable moments with Alonso..
1. Remember SPYGATE? When he ratted on his Mclaren team to get out of his contract cause he couldnt keep up with the younger more better rookie TEAM MATE Lewis Hamilton.
2. How about the time when he didn’t want his own Team mate to get pole?

Anyways, good luck Ferrari. I hope you guys know what you’re getting yourselves into. He’s obviously NOT at team player. I’m a Ferrari Fan (not for its drivers but the cars) and It’ll be hard watching Alonso in Red next year. Go KIMI!

Oakley
October 1, 2009 – 11:42 pm | 2 Comments | submitted by mark fatlace

It’s fun being a free agent. I can roam freely in small world of ours. I met Brian from Oakley a little over a year ago and we’ve been chatting ever since. Talking about possibly working together in the future someday. I’ve always admired Oakley for doing their thing, the Oakley way. He’s been with the company for 13 years and has done things like head up the design department. He’s now is working on something pretty cool which you’ll probably start hearing about soon…

Brian and I in the secret room.

So after trying to schedule a few trips down to their headquarters in Forest Hills, CA, I finally got to visit. I have to say even after working for Nike, Oakley’s headquarters is quite impressive. When you roll up to the main drop off area (and although you notice that the building looks somewhat like a boeing hanger) your can’t seem to take your eyes off the TANK that’s parked right in front of the doors.

And although I’d like to talk about what we talked about, enjoy the photos of their facility. I can, however, talk about things like… Did you know, Oakley supplies military supplies for the Military? And did you know they have a material that’s even more fire retardant then nomex? I was given the demo where the guy who was holding a cloth with a penny on top and blow torched a penny while holding the cloth without being burnt. Crazy stuff..

We walked thru the history of Oakley and the first thing that caught my eyes were the original Grips. I actually have these grips still on my 1980 mongoose. If these were still available, they would be such a hot commodity.

A couple other cool things around their headquarters were about a dozen eject seats from fighter jets used as waiting chairs, a huge military machine gun, a dirt track around the facility and the best thing of all was their hidden man room. Kegs, write your name on the walls, watch TV, Poker, etc… Check out the rest of the photos, if you have any questions or comment, feel free..

It’s nice to see Disneyland empty. It’s rare for me since we visit at the peak of the craziness but this week has been great. No waiting in line for anything.
