MOTORS
I’ve been trying to lay low with all the car stuff but it keeps pulling me back especially when people’s trying to push you and help get it done. I’ve said it before the guys over at Blacktrax had given me tons of hand whenever I need something. I spent last saturday at the shop watching Aki put a couple of motors together for his SC300 and mine.
Here’s Aki (Akira) trying to put a 2JZGTE together and have asked if I wanted it. Aki don’t fuck around, when he wants shit done he gets it done. He takes the motor apart just to make sure everything is there and if there’s anything wrong with it, no half-ass allowed.
It’s really hard to vouch for shops nowadays because most of them just don’t give a fuck and does everything half-ass. Here at Blacktrax I’ve witnessed these guys work and they take pride on there work. Good work don’t come cheap but it’s also cheaper to do it once versus five times. I gotta make a choice, 1JZ or 2JZ… which one should I put inside the SC?

2J for the win homie…and yes, if I was to get any under the hood work (or cage work for that matter)done up here in norcal, I’m dropping the 240 off at blacktrax for sure

the pic you posted he’s working on a 1jz.. under his hand you could see a 2500 on the valve cover.
I don’t know man. A 1jz is very capable. I went to a supra dyno day where the highest HP supra there had a 1jz making 650rwhp. Max output on a 1jz is around 900whp. A 2jz can do a bit better. Are you really going to be pushing the limits like that anyway? The 1jz will be a little cheaper. It revs higher stock. Your choice. Either engine will be sick!
