BERLIN, Germany, September 7, 2009- Monster and Beats by Dr. Dre, today announced an exciting new development in the evolution of the popular “Beats™ By Dr. Dre™ headphone line – the on-ear “Beats Solo” headphones (MAP: $179.95, SRP: $219.95). The new Beats Solo high-performance headphones offer users an ideal entry level Beats by Dr. Dre personal listening experience in a lightweight and smaller version. Beats Solo will be available in November 2009 in both black and white versions.

In addition to its availability with Beats Solo and all Beats by Dr. Dre headphones from Monster, including the new white version of Beats Studio and Heartbeats by Lady Gaga from Monster, the ControlTalk feature is also being made available as an option with all Monster brand headphones as well.
The ControlTalk remote and mic are supported by iPod nano (4th generation), iPod classic (120GB), iPod touch (2nd generation), and iPhone 3GS and newer, but not all, Blackberry models. The remote is supported by iPod shuffle (3rd generation). Audio is supported by all iPod models. Requires software version 1.0.3 for iPod nano (4th generation), 2.0.1 for iPod classic (120GB), and 2.2 or later for iPod touch (2nd generation). Support for Blackberry varies by model. DJ AM Tributes and Experiences
This morning got on-line to clean out my email, read twitters, and take care of a little work. While on-line and twitter I was reading about DJ AMs funeral. I also was reading several blogs and how some djs were writing tributes, their experiences, and actual feelings when they heard the tragic news.
A few years back my close friends Rene and Lylette out of New York, flew into San Francisco for an event they were producing for Pepsi. The event was held at the Mezzanine and DJ AM was spinning for it. The homie Rene introduced me real quick to him but it was so brief, that I can’t really claim that I know him or knew him.

1st Day @ Magic / Las Vegas
1st Day of Magic was pretty busy with appointments all day, up until like 7pm. Saw a lot of old friends and met some new ones. Even saw our Fatlace leader at Stussy today but didn’t disturb his appointment.
Met up with my old school homie Nerv and he introduced me to photogragher / director Estevan Oriol. Definitely a fan of his work, you can check it here and here.

True x New Era “Sharpie”
We call it the “Sharpie” cap since the original artwork was done with Sharpie Chisel tip marker. It’s our first New Era that we’ve done on our own which doesn’t focus directly on the True logo, instead it’s a 3D raised embroidery of a cursive based hand-style.
We’re going to drop it as an online exclusive, another first for us. It’ll hit the site this Friday night at midnight.
There are also 2 colors of mens, and 2 colors of womens tees with the original artwork.

(Updated) News: Jay-Z Confirms 1Night Only 9/11 Concert, “Support & Honor The Families”

Jay-Z has confirmed recent reports of launching a one-night only televised New York City concert next month in honor of the families and victims of the World Trade Center attacks from September 11, 2001.
The event, sponsored by Absolut Vodka, will take place at iconic sports arena Madison Square Garden.
To kick things off, Absolut and Madison Square Garden will host a once-in-a-lifetime benefit show featuring hip-hop impresario Jay-Z on September 11, 2009, to aid the New York Police & Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund www.answerthecall.org). The highly-anticipated performance will air live and commercial-free on Fuse TV at 9pm. The events of September 11 challenged Jay-Z as an entertainer and a New Yorker. This charity concert serves as not just a reminder of the lives lost but as a look towards the future and the hope that arose on September 12. (Hip Hop Press)
Hov also confirmed the concert with a written statement released today (August 24).
“This charity and concert encompass the true spirit of New York City,” Jay said in a statement. “We are asking everyone to ‘answer the call’ and support and honor the families of those that lost their lives in the line of duty. There is a true camaraderie and resiliency this city showed the world in 2001 and we continue that today by taking care of our own.” (Statement)
Despite showcasing a Grammy-winning rap star in one of the nation’s most franchised venues, all profits will go towards charity.
For this live event, 100 percent of the proceeds from ticket sales and concert merchandise will go directly to “New York Police & Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund.” Since its inception, New York Police & Fire Widow’s & Children’s Benefit Fund has distributed over $114 million to the families of New York City police and fire personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Though the Benefit Fund was initially created to assist families of New York City Fire Fighters and Police Officers, the non-profit now includes the families of Emergency Medical Services and Port Authority Officers as well. Reports from earlier today hinted at a big announcement being made later in the evening.
Jay-Z is expected to announce on Monday that he will give a benefit concert at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 11 for the New York Police and Fire Widows? and Children?s Benefit Fund, a charity created in 1985 to support the families of police officers and firefighters who have died in the line of duty. The concert, which comes on the day his new album, The Blueprint 3, will be released, will also be broadcast by Fuse, the cable music channel. Ticket information has not been announced.
