Ip man was Bruce Lee’s master. If you’ve seen the power of the one inch punch and the wooden dummy, they are both part of the Wing Chun system. This movie is like most Kung Fu flicks with defending honor, bad guys and people claiming “My Kung Fu is better than your Kung Fu!” Ip Man’s was the best.

Watch this movie. The fight scenes are awesome. It all looks like realistic action with occasional people getting kicked across the screen, haha. The story is cool. It’s semi-biographical and based on Ip Man’s life. I don’t know how much of it was made up, but it makes a good story… I give it a thumbs up!

I walked by here and saw my old Kook Sool Won school. This was sad, I wanted to go back since Fatlace HQ is only a few blocks away. I learned a lot about Korean culture and the crew was like family. I’d recommend Kuk Sool to anyone interested in martial arts. It’s a mixture of internal and external martial arts, strong forms (really low stance), throws, joint locks, falls, weapons and some grappling. We were learning from the son of the grandmaster which was awesome! Our school took hella medals. At the national Kuk Sool tourney, Mara and I took home gold and silver in multiple events. Good times! Kamsamida…

On the way home I ate some mini pork buns from the grocery store.

Now I enjoy practicing Wing Chun. I had to unlearn a lot of my Kuk Sool tendencies… and still working on it. Good times are back again!
