Massan Fluker “Snakes in the Grass” opens Feb 4
January 22, 2010 – 2:46 pm | One Comment | submitted by turd

for a hot minute i considered taking a long-overdue trip out to SF for massan’s opening so i could hang with my cousin nathan and jilly (she’s doing the PR for gallery), check out the david choe show and perhaps meet the bay-based fatlace & stayfresh crew! but alas, work has me stuck in nyc.

this is fine i guess, since i’m trying to bank all my vacation days for an adventure to peru! *fingers crossed* and besides, it looks like cali has somehow magically transported itself to the northwest — with all the rain are y’all melting like the wicked witch of the west, yet? bwhahahahahahah

maybe this photo that massan took of luke cleaning up dirt’s head (22 staples to the dome – ouch!) in my apt will make it into the show — then my closet will be FAMOUS!! and i will be too!

EVER GOLD GALLERY PRESENTS: SNAKES IN THE GRASS

New works by: MASSAN FLUKER featuring PEZ

Massan Fluker is a photographer based out of San Francisco and now resides in NYC. As a member of the International Urban Cycling community Massan has traveled the world over the past few years documenting his intriguing experiences surrounding the culture as well as other parallel sub cultures that relate directly to his travels. As a figure in these various scenes he provides the viewer an inside look as to these typically exclusive and illusive artists, involved figures, bikers, skaters, graffiti writers, and tough kids at their best and worst. Through utilizing collected and found objects Massan will expand this experience to more than just 2-dimensional work. Massan has exhibited his work in SF, New York, Tokyo, and Osaka. He has been in both of the premier track bike films, Mash and Macaframa. He is also involved with Nike and their CTRS Urban Bike Team and shoe project. Massan started collaborating with PEZ when first offered to be in a show with him in 2003. The name of this two man collaborative effort they have been working on since then has been named ‘Snakes in the Grass’

PEZ is a graffiti writer originally based out of SF but has lived and left his marks in many cities around the globe. His work has been published in a handful of street art books over the years. Not only can one view PEZ’s work on buildings -but also in international galleries, t-shirt designs, zines, stickers, and gorilla installation work.

Opening Reception: Thursday February 4th from 6-9 pm
@ Ever Gold Gallery: 441 O’Farrell St in the TL

Mister Saturday Night

It’s halfway through January, and Mister Saturday Night is making good on his New Year’s resolution—to put together parties that are as close to ideal as they can be. After all NYE was kind of epic wasn’t it? To that end we’re back on January 16th running our 10,000 Watts of Turbosound at the perfect level, serving up an open bar of beer from 10 to 11, and residents Eamon and Justin are playing their best jams in the homey loft at 1142 Myrtle alongside a super special guest.

That guest is none other than DJ Harvey, the man behind the infamous Black Cock edits and, most importantly, a DJ who’s unafraid to take a night in unpredictable, exciting directions. Who knows what it’ll sound like? Only one thing’s for sure. It’s gonna be nice.

Saturday, January 16th from 10p – late
$15 / $8 in advance from residentadvisor.net/mistersaturdaynight // $10 before midnight w/ RSVP
@ 1142 Myrtle Ave & Broadway, Brooklyn
