And tonight is actually the grand opening of 21 Mercer, the new Nike Sportswear store. I was able to sneak a peek at the construction a few nights ago with Mark and there was already a line! At 10pm 2 nights before the opening! Anywho, it was pretty techy inside, you won’t be disappointed.
Thank you Mark and Josh for hooking me up once again for the tickets, but unfortunately I’ll be stuck at work until late (WTF!!!!). However, Mike (Alife) and I will be hauling ass to make sure we try to get things done and finished so we can try to haul our asses out to 21 Mercer before the event ends!!!!!
Ok, enough said about that, I’ll continue to stay focused and remain positive… FAWK!
As I mentioned before in my other recaps of Nike drops (you’ll have to search for these because there were a few), this is the last of the year long “Zodiac” story line. Inspired by the Capricorn sign, you’ll adore the metallic elephant print - GUYS, don’t hate =)
Just like last year’s manny mania (I covered it HERE), the contest provided the same impact of NYC’s elite skaters as well as some guests from all over the world. Igei and I got our head start with some food at the park by the Willy B bridge…
Then we headed on over to the Manhattan bridge and who do we bump into? Rob Welsh and Karl Watson… Rob and Igei were roommates back in the SF days for yeaaars and Karl and I met a few years back at the Vans video shoot hehehe - I love Karl!
Throwback - Karl, Brad Johnson, moi!
RIP lady bug… | “Got mah Vans on, but they look like… uhm these still look like Vans”
Rob: “Dude, why am I not on here?!”
Then we finally headed inside - thanks Mike for hooking us up! It was great seeing a lot of friends I hadn’t seen in a long time like Jack Curtin, Kelly Hart, Kenny Anderson (whom I WISH was my friend) and Eric Koston (another I wish was my friend) LOL, Keir Johnson, Jimmy (DC heads).

Ok, I’m going to sound corny when I say that I’ve been flipping back and forth from MTV to NBC. So a few interesting things happened as I’ve been flipping through these channels.
First, I just saw my childhood homie, dancer extraordinaire Shaun Evaristo, on a Sears commercial/ad dancing as one of the main dudes for Vanessa Hudgen’s “Arrive” Sear’s collection. Looking good Shaun! I knew you’d be a superstar =) By the way, he was my date for our 8th grade Promotion dance - holler atcha gurrrrl, although I think he’s out of the country touring right now.
Oh! Found the clip on youtube… he’s the one with the red plaid hoodie in the beginning and the one in the vest during the solo parts. So proud of him!!
ANYWAY, so I’ve also been following the Kobe v Gasol action during the most anticipated game for Olympic’s basketball. USA v Spain - lots of action, lots of passion, Yao in the stands watching… oh yes, good game. NBA season starts off in about 2 months - whoever wins this game I’m sure Kobe and Gasol will make ammends in time to rock it out with the Lakers.
I’m sure many of you have seen this photo of Spain’s misinterpretation of “we love China.”
Now back to American Mall - I’ve seen this particular billboard in almost every subway station here in NY.
Now what is it about this High School Musical wannabee that intrigues my interest so much? Actually, I have a very valid reason! I practically grew up in our local mall as my papa, the hardest working man you’ll ever meet, has worked at one of the stores there for almost my whole life. Not only that, but I spent four years of my teenage life working at the mall myself and can definitely relate to a lot of what this show has to offer; meeting other friends during the summer who got sucked into working, making new friends at neighboring shops, and hanging out at the food court for lunch. Ooooh the days spent at Serra-manila HAHAHAHA! I bet you guys don’t remember the arcade that was there hehehe…
Also, I DO skip the parts when these kids start singing romantically to each other because honestly, I just can’t stand how these girls sound like chipmunks… AND I’d rather hear the squeaking of sneakers as USA steals another one from Spain.
Now, this is one of New York City’s most talked about parties. DJ Myles and DJ Lindsey (of Triple Crown, Brooklyn fame) took the vibe of their famous venue to the East Village on the weekly tip and invited some of the finest DJ’s to do special guest spots. This week, the guests are Illvibe Collective¹s own Phillee Blunt and The Elite Camp¹s own Unkle Chip! Get over the midweek hump and join us as we take you on a musical journey between the years of 1988-1998. Also, free giveaways from Staple Design. Sorry, no
Pigeon New Balance giveaways.
I’ll do my best to make it out on a school night guys! HAHAHAHA
