….sorry for the lack of posts. Time to get back on track… hopefully. Been plenty busy with some new projects along with some new tees we’re working on so stay tuned. Myself and some friends also started a little blog dedicated to road cycling and it’s own separate world… we felt like we should, amidst all the track bike madness! Check it out at hocroad.blogspot.com. Speaking of road bikes, we got in our kits as well (made by VOLER in southern california)… designed by Jonathan Burkett whom you may know from MASH SF and his own project, fairwhether.org

my 2010 Giant TCR Advanced 2 – the awesome dudes at freewheel (both hayes and valencia) hooked me up and help me out with my first legit road bike. couldn’t be happier with the way it looks, and more importantly the way it rides/handles. it won’t stay bone stock for long however…

Macaframa Benefit Race
August 23, 2009 – 9:28 pm | One Comment | submitted by House of Commons

Thanks to Macaframa and Hip to Help for putting it on. Looks like everyone had a good time for a good cause. Saskia, Davis, and I arrived pre-race to a bunch of racers eager to start. Steve B had us work the check point at china banks even though it was closed off. Davis and I just posted up in front anyway and some of the racers still had to look for us. Gabe Morford was the first to arrive!

A little bit from Hip to Help’s Mission Statement  hiptohelp.com)

“Hip To Help is a San Francisco based organization dedicated to reinstating the importance of music and art programs back to the inner city youth. “

“We have recently become a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and are excited to get our mission underway. All of this is possible because of you, the people who want to see a change in the community. We thank you for your time and support and please feel free to write us with any comments, questions, or donations!”

A First for Me…
July 24, 2009 – 2:48 am | One Comment | submitted by House of Commons

Somehow I came out unscathed last night.  Saskia, myself, Ray, Ian, and Davis were riding around downtown San Jose last night when we pass through a green light, I see something in the corner of my eye, and before you know it, it’s too late.  Davis’ rear wheel gets nipped, and by the time i realize it’s a car that doesn’t know they have a red light in front of them, I’m slamming into the hood (they actually slam into me)  and I flip over onto the ground in the middle of a busy intersection.  Naturally, I’ve learned to somehow “fall correctly” and this time was no exception.  I was very lucky not to have hit my head or have any serious body injuries.  In fact, other than some bruises here and there, I don’t have one scrape from the hit.  Stoked to be walking and talking.  I will miss my Casati though…

end of DAY 4, beginning of DAY 5
July 3, 2009 – 10:57 am | One Comment | submitted by House of Commons

Here’s a few photos from the last 1,000 ft climb that they had to do. Right after we filled up their water bottles, they went down a steep hill on the other side of these photos, and averaged about 46 mph. We got refused from 2 separate camp grounds, but a dude from the entrance of a campground took pity on us and let us camp at a really dope spot called Refugio campground. Bryan, Austin, Brandon and PJ all took the van into Goleta and brought us back burritos. We’re stopping in Santa Barbara for lunch, and then it’s about 70 more miles to go until LA!

From this morning:

Critter got a flat right when we left the campgrounds, good thing we brought extra wheels.

Btw… Santa Barbara has too many similar named streets! Cabrillo, Carrillo, Castillo… jeeze.

DAY 4
July 2, 2009 – 6:33 pm | One Comment | submitted by House of Commons

Made some great progress today, did about 78 miles at 4:45 pm, and aiming to do 30 more miles until the sun goes down. Aiming to camp out at El Capitan State Beach, but we’ll see how long the daylight will last. At the end of highway 1 right now, and the boys are going to have to ride a bit of the 101. Chris has a swollen knee and possible pulled tendon, so he’s seeing if he can finish this ride. Mark also has a bit of a pulled tendon, but it seems to be ok. Other than that, everyone is doing good, just super tired and looking for that inner strength to get up this last 1,000 ft climb. More later!

I’m uploading some of the highlights from the past 2 days, just to get a bigger image size for you guys…

I know the slideshow is a bit small on our website HERE, if you click on it, it will take you to all of the photos so you can see them larger.

I will blog more photos later today. We camped at Morro Bay last night, and it was really beautiful. Everything on this trip has been amazing so far, my jaw has been dropping at the scenery. Today we got an earlier start than the past two days, and are trying to make it somewhere past Santa Barbara if possible. Everyone is feeling tired and sore. Brandon had a knee problem and is now helping me and Austin with our team management. The camping has been ok so far, it is nice when the campsites have hot water for showers! so essential! We would like to stay in a small hotel tonight…. we’ll see what happens. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches have been the staple of this trip so far… I’ve even been making a triple decker with trail mix inside, you’ll see the photos soon! Thats it for now! More later!
