Earlier this year, Sneaker Freaker’s M.A.F.I.A. made the trip from Australia to the U.S. and attended a variety of sneaker related events. After she wrapped up her time at Sneaker Friends 2010 in Atlanta, she took a quick detour to NYC and made a stop at 21 Mercer. When most of us think of 21 Mercer, we think of an opportunity to create a Bespoke Nike Air Force 1. Along with Lori from Female Sneaker Fiend, MAFIA did indeed receive that opportunity. M.A.F.I.A.’s Bespoke Air Force 1 Inspiration came from the “Hot Lava” Air Tech Challenge, which she says is one of her all-time favorite sneakers. She also made it a point to note that the finished shoe turned out to be just a variation of her vision because of all of the ideas being bounced around during customization. M.A.F.I.A chose to construct a rather interesting Air Force 1 that features an array of textures and multiple colors. A beige, off-white suede-like material is spotted on the toe area and along the midfoot, while a softer, buttery suede is seen on the heel panel colored in grey. However, the pinkish-red hints, namely on the swoosh border, laces and tongue, are the most intriguing aspects. Additionally, the same color is coupled with white to make paint splatter-like design on the tongue logo and heel tab. Other features include a metallic silver toe box, a white midsole and a translucent outsole.
