I kind of wanted to re-intro myself to everyone real quick. My name is Josh Hooks (known as grippymonkey or jhooks on the net). I grew up in the SF Bay and have been living in LA going on 6 years now. I’ve modded over a dozen or more cars in the 11 years I’ve had a license to do so. I’m associated with this thing called Hellaflush that we all know and love, and some love to Hate. I’ve known Mark since the earlier days of all this back in 2002 (wow Mark almost ten years!). Back in those days we had the DriftUnit forums, and I was moderating on there per Mark’s request. I went to all our events and made some pretty cool videos of our good times. The Hellaflush site started as just a page with a pic of a fitted car that would then take you to the Fatlace site. It started plenty of interest of what this “hellaflush” stuff was all about. The blog popped up shortly after, and Mark asked me to start posting rides that I found that fit our style. From there we added some more Bloggers like our good friend Andy Wong. It was pretty cool to see all these things unfold to what it is now. Now 2012 is almost here! We are still just the same old crew doing what we love despite those who don’t. We are car maniacs, and that’s all that really matters.
I’ve always had a special place in my heart for the Mk1 Rabbit Pickup known as the VW Caddy. I recently picked one up myself. I particularly love any old school ride that is properly done and fitted nicely. It just takes so much more to have a clean example especially when it comes the Caddy. They are all pretty junked up considering when people bought these cars back when they didn’t plan on modding them. They were mostly used as commuters and beater work trucks. This one is a prime example of doing just the right amount to complete a clean looking ride. Notice the stickers in the back window, and thanks for the support!

stick lil pick-up…. awesome job
this is sick, love the color, love your message. It takes a special place in your heart for caddys, they are probably one of my fav VWs. Thats a diesel right 😉
simple and clean, great ride
Hi Josh,
thanks for the feature. Actually I’m talking on my friends behalf. This Caddy belongs to Toni, who is a Volkswagen enthusiast. Well he is a vehicle enthusiast but happens to own three VWs at the moment. One 5-door mk1 Rabbit, a r32 mk4 Golf and this mk1 Caddy. This Caddy is his daily, which you can see pretty much see from it. It’s driven hard like cars are ment to be.
At the moment this Caddy is being redone, the bay has been shaved and painted in Nevada Beige and the exterior will be done once more. So it should look even better after a couple of months. It’s not that common to see a nice clean Caddy in Finland, like you said, they are all ex-work trucks. I think this one is a nice example of an old Volkswagen which has been given a little love.
