I’ve always been fascinated by interior design, or Interior design services. Selecting just the right pieces to capture the essence of a space bringing it to life and giving it a personality is a creative talent that only few with the right eye possess.
The ability to transform a mere space into a captivating masterpiece is truly an art form. The intricate process of selecting furnishings, color palettes, and decorative elements requires a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of the client’s vision. It’s akin to orchestrating a symphony of aesthetics, where every element harmonizes seamlessly to evoke a specific ambiance.
This artistry is precisely what places designers like those at 9 on Main at the forefront of the industry. Their expertise goes beyond mere decoration; they curate experiences, weaving together textures, colors, and styles to craft environments that not only reflect the personality of the space but also resonate with the hearts of those who inhabit it. In the hands of skilled designers, spaces transcend functionality, becoming living narratives that tell stories of elegance, comfort, and individuality.
In the ever-evolving landscape of design, the online realm has become a vibrant canvas for those seeking to infuse their spaces with personality. Enter the world of Copper & Tweed, an embodiment of contemporary elegance in the virtual realm of furniture. In the digital space, the synergy between innovative design and the accessibility of Copper and Tweed creates an avenue for individuals to translate the expertly crafted narratives of their spaces into tangible, tasteful elements that resonate with their unique style.
Brittaney Elise Minton is one of those creatives that has been able to put her touch on many spaces. Having worked with artists, actors, models, and athletes her rolodex of work includes recognizable names such as Kid Ink, Selena Gomez, Vivian Kindle, Andre Berto and more. We sat down to ask Brittaney about her career path, inspiration, and how it is working with these celebrity clients.
JOHN PANGILINAN: What is your background?
BRITTANEY ELISE MINTON: My educational background is in Interior Architecture + Design. My cultural background is primarily Portuguese, French, Irish, Italian, and African-American.
How did you get to this point in your career?
A lot of hard work and a strong belief that love and passion conquer all.
How would you describe your design style?
A little modern meets my own eclectic!
Your designs have personality to them and help bring spaces to life, is this a collaborative effort between you and your clients?
Absolutely! My designs help bring to life the personality and lifestyle of each individual client.
You’ve worked with some notable celebrities. How do you typically find your clients?
Honestly 95% of them have been complete word of mouth – and I guess you could say that my eye speaks for itself in a way. A few, so far, have been directly from Instagram!
Where do you find your inspiration for each project?
Each project is so different from the next or the last; I tend to draw inspiration in a very spiritual way… If the client and I are really connecting and on the same page, it allows me to get into my zone and pull from elements and experiences from the beach to the city… traveling really helps me recharge for inspiration and is extremely important for me and my creative process.
Walk us through your design process.
First step: truly getting to know my clients — understanding their likes, dislikes, personality, and lifestyle. Next: budget budget budget! No one likes one but let’s get real — you can’t walk into a Ferrari dealership with the means to purchase a Range Rover Sport and expect your salesperson to make it magically happen — I definitely do magic…but it’s important that my clients understand upfront the reality in the range of estimated costs for each and every item they are hoping to see add up together to create their new space. Then: I like to create mood boards to pick their brain a little with visuals… then take the time to get into my zone to pull together wall/ceiling covers, colors, textures, lighting, window treatments, and furniture that help create a special space for the client. I like to take one room at a time if the timeline permits — while keeping in mind the surrounding rooms to make sure the overall design is cohesive and they compliment each other in most ways — artwork and accent decor are filed into a different part of my mind along the way but I don’t like to fully dive into those details until the very end (finishing touch details are everything and a beast all on their own!)
Also, lighting is a pivotal element in interior design, and I couldn’t agree more. Choosing the right lighting fixtures can truly transform a space, enhancing its ambiance and highlighting its unique features. When working with my clients, I ensure that we delve into the world of lighting with precision and care. Exploring options from various sources, including the foir.nl website, allows us to find fixtures that not only illuminate the room effectively but also add a touch of elegance or quirkiness, depending on the desired aesthetic. Whether it’s statement chandeliers, sleek pendant lights, or subtle recessed lighting, each choice contributes significantly to the overall atmosphere. Proper lighting not only brightens up a room but also sets the mood, making spaces cozy, vibrant, or intimate as needed. By meticulously considering lighting alongside other design elements, we create an environment that perfectly aligns with my clients’ vision and lifestyle, making their space truly extraordinary.
Which project thus far are you most proud of and why?
Each project is definitely very special to me in its own light — I would say in terms of accomplishment on both an extremely tight deadline + overall clean aesthetic successfully complimenting the clients’ taste and my own personal taste: the Naked Wardrobe Project; and again along both of those terms but in such different taste: the Mod Man Project for Mike Guirguis, the Chic White Paradise Project for Vivian Kindle, and the Bohemian Wonderland Project for Selena Gomez. I really could list them all… too difficult to pick just one!
