Multi-awarded toy designer Quiccs has collaborated with the “Brand with the Three Stripes” for a capsule collection. Exhibiting his affection towards basketball, hip-hop and love for country, Quiccs officially became the first Filipino creator to partner with the German sports-performance brand.
Also known for street graffiti, the collaboration reflects Q’s trademark style infused with adidas’ heritage for simple-yet-striking designs.
Story telling is everything. This sets collaborations apart from the rest. Spearheaded by a good friend in adidas, JD Cortez, went all out together with the Team in connecting Quiccs’ vision together with the Three Stripes. The results are simply stunning as the designs reflect Philippine culture sophisticatedly.
For the black tee, the “Badge of Sport” logo features the colors of the nation’s flag representing freedom and imagination (blue), blood and sweat (red), purity (white), and hope for a brighter tomorrow (yellow). The tee features Q’s “Manila Killa” TEQ63 vinyl, which exhibits himself as a pure Filipino artist. This also symbolizes the country’s passion for the designer toy movement.
The “Scarlet” tee is inspired by one of the murals Q painted in Hawaii – the “B-boy TEQ63″. Featuring the adidas Superstar, which turned 50 earlier this year, is regarded as one of the original basketball icons. The sneaker is highlighted in the tee as the TEQ is laced up in a white and red colorway.
The tee also infused Quiccs’ trademark logo on its sleeves.
For the white tee, the TEQ63 is seen for the first time in full adidas Basketball gear. The number 63 across the chest represents the Philippines’ country code +63.
For my personal shoot, I went for a different theme through this photo as it showcases Philippine streetball…
On a different note, Quiccs is an avid fan of cars, especially JDM culture. I guess I have to save that for a future Q&A here on the blog…
“It’s only the beginning” as the partnership of Quiccs and adidas is formally set for two years. What do we see next? Only time can tell.. Can’t wait for what’s coming..
Congratulations Quiccs, JD and the rest of the collaborative team. What a way to represent our roots.
