Some of you maybe asking yourself, “Who is ASD?” ASD, also known as Autosport Dynamics, is a dedicated race fabrication, preparation, planning, and product development shop. ASD has been involved in most types of motorsport including NASCAR, F1, NASA, and of course FormulaD. So its safe to say they know what they are doing.

As you enter their shop you greeted by their sales manager, Hayden. The next thing you notice is a wall of carbon fiber trophies. This wall contains about 80 percent of the trophy’s they have won in the past two years. They are awaiting another 8 or 10 to be made by APR.

After waiting a few minutes David(Dave) Gibson, general manager, came out of his office to give me a tour of their shop. The first thing you see as you walk into the shop area is all four Falken Drift cars. Secondly, you notice how clean their shop is.  Luckily Dave was more than willing to answer any questions I had about any of the cars, and for the record JR’s Mustang is carbon fiber.

It was really cool to see the attention to detail put into every car. All the little details just set the cars apart from everyone else.

The next room we walked into was their CNC/Mill Room. This is where they do all of their in house fabrication of brackets, suspension, hand brakes and any other parts they need for their drift cars. The best part is you can also buy the exact same parts they put on the Falken cars, so you know the quality will be unmatched.

As you can see there is a extra 350z being worked on in the CNC/Mill room. This is Hayden’s person drift car. He will be running in next years pro-am series. Just incase he didn’t have enough power he decided to drop a Dodge Nationwide Series motor in it….aka NASCAR.

The last room Dave took me to was there R&D room. I was not permitted to take pictures in here because everything was being built for the first time. I will say it was very fascinating to see what they were working on first hand.

As we were walking back to the front of the shop I saw some stairs that went to a loft area in the shop. As we ventured up the stairs my mouth dropped. The amount of extra replacement parts was quit impressive. They had everything from nuts and bolts to OEM 350z headlights. Honestly though, I would expect this from a shop that has the amount of wins that ASD have received over the past few years. Up until Seattle a few weeks ago, ASD has been on the podium since the begging of the 2009 season.

When you are above the shop floor you get a view of the cars that your normally cant get.

I would really like to thank Ian and Dave for allowing me come and get a tour of their impressive shop.

If you are ever at a Formula D event, stop by and say “Hey” to the ASD guys.
