New Balance and Boston’s own Concepts have re-worked their classic 999 silhouette in order to present to us a design that was inspired by a “New England Summer Time” theme, with a nod to the nautical and sailing culture.

New Balance chose a premium suede material for the main body and a foxing piece from a ripstop material inspired by sail boats. There is also a set of sailing flag symbols on the tongue tag and each symbol represents a letter. The symbols chosen stand for ‘C’ ‘N’ ‘C’ ‘P’ ‘T’ ‘S’ (hidden logo). The vamp features a lightweight and breathable airmesh that’s ideal for the summer time.

After much anticipation, the 999 will drop April 16 at Concepts and April 23 at Wish, Nice Kicks, Bows and Arrows, Undefeated, West, Saint Alfred, Burn Rubber, Packer Shoes, Ubiq, Shoe Gallery.
