Today, Nixon has introduced its first smartwatch, The Mission, the world’s first custom action sports smartwatch. The Mission is customizable with over 44,000 combinations of various bezels, cases, bands, and case back inscriptions. The watch face is also available with in extra options.
The Bezel is available in 12 finishes including solid stainless steel, IP plated steel, and my favorite the durable Cerakote™ paint finish. The Case comes in either black or concrete. The Band has 24 dual-layer silicone colors available. Finally the Case Back can be personalized with either custom Nixon logos and art or your own inscription.
The Mission is built on Android Wear, Google’s smartwatch platform and equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon. A key feature is that it’s the category’s first 10-ATM (100 meter) water resistance rating, that is made for action sports either in the water or on the mountain. Built tough the Mission is housed in a custom-molded, shockproof and stainless steel case with Gorilla Glass crystal.
Integrated with Google Fit, Google Maps, Google Now notifications, and voice search. There are also custom applications made for action sports and third party app compatibility. The smartwatch introduces two custom Nixon applications, the Mission app and Mission Trace app, which provides live ocean and mountain conditions. The Mission app’s Shred Alerts powered by Surfline and Snocountry, provide notifications direct to the user on the perfect surf or snow conditions. The Mission Trace is a custom activity-tracking platform, which is designed for consumers to track sessions and easily view and share stats during activity.
Custom orders start at $450.00 or in three stock colors of black, concrete, or orange for $400. The Mission is available at Best Buy, the Google Play Store, and select Nixon retailers as well as online at www.nixon.com.
