How do I start? Friday night: I attended a late night meet with several friends from the car industry organized by a late great friend of mine, Iori Suzuki. While en route to the gathering he called me and asked if I was going to feature it for this site I said “Yes, I forgot my camera and I am using my phone.” Being a big follower of this website/culture, I always said to him that I will schedule a shoot of his MR2 and events. I did not know that it was going to be the last night I’ll ever see my friend. Today I fulfill my promise and add a check on his automotive bucket-list by featuring his car on this site.
Living in Osaka while flying to Manila 4-5x a year, Iori was present for the last 3 Offset Kings Fuji meets. What I find unique about him is that he attends the shows to talk to friends and not to look at the cars. This year we had a memorable experience while hanging out in Daikoku PA and Tatsumi PA (recap soon) with some of the Fatlace Crew. As an owner of this car for 8 years, he had several plans of a remake for Offset Kings Manila 2016. We brainstormed ideas on a color change, lowering the car more and even parking beside each other.
Iori always wanted a better car scene for everyone. He always wanted different paths to meet and with that he succeeded. At the end of the day, we are all enthusiasts right?
He built the car from ground zero with his own personal touch as he hand-carries parts whenever he flies to Osaka-Manila. The bodykit was designed by him and Jeiven Perez of Sushi Factory and I can attest that the modifications made were balanced inside and out. Inspired by his ultimate dream car, the F40, his goal was to have an all around fun-to-drive vehicle. Out of the numerous modifications in his car, what coincides is one of his last modifications – an F40 steering wheel and the F40 inspired Modena’s wheels.
