As the m3’s evolve through each generation, we cant seem to forget the old one. The E30 M3 generation is already extinct while the E36 M3 is slowly working its way there. There are fewer and fewer clean E36 M3’s out there. Clean was the word Eric Schultz had in mind while building this car. A lot of you might have seen this car at Wuste or from all the photos that came out of there.
Eric purchased this 97’ M3 back in April, when running a red light ended the life of his 95’ M3. When I asked Eric what his motto behind building his car was, he replied “I’ve been building this car trying to keep the simply clean look that hopefully even some of the older generations can enjoy while also trying to maintain the slammed/flush look without sacrificing too much performance because I still love to take some spirited drives on the local mountain roads.”
Eric took his time building his car. Just within the last seven months, a lot more stuff happened as he really wanted to attend Wuste this year. His roof got vinyled black, a E46 M3 lip found its way on the trunk, and ACS roof spoiler popped up on his rear window after a short visit at White Oaks Autobody. After searching for a while, Eric got his hands on some 3pc Dinan 5 wheels. While the wheels were getting rebuilt and tires were getting mounted, Eric purchased new AST 4100 coilovers and OEM Hella ellipsoid headlights. All these things finalized the outside look of the M3.
As with anyone in the car scene, Eric will never be done with his M3. He plans on purchasing another set of wheels and making some room to add a Brembo BBK. Interior wise he’s thinking of adding a rollbar and getting some bucket seats accompanied by some 4 point harnesses. Power is last thing on Eric’s list, but once he reaches that stage, forced induction is in the works.
