I caught up with Illest sponsored popper, Morgan, today. Let me bring you up to speed. Morgan’s my goddaughter, and was with me when Mark and I first met. Our interview went off topic when it was revealed that Morgan and Mark had a lot in common, especially when it came to dance. Long story short, Illest sponsored Morgan on the spot and she’ll be doing a lot of events out of the Orange County area very soon.
We got together today to watch – what else – a dance performance. This time, hula, to support our family and friends. My cousin has been dancing for Halau Keali i O Nala for years, under the direction of Kumu Ceballos. Fun facts about Kumu: He was integral in the opening of Disney Aulani, ensuring that Disney stayed true to Hawaiian values and culture. And he was used as Michael Jackson’s body double during costume fittings. MJ was gracious enough to make sure that Kumu got his own set of costumes, too. How dope is that?
Today they put on another great show with celebrating life as a the underlining theme. Dancers from Los Angeles, Tokyo and Mexico came to get down.
And this is my cousin. He didn’t want a closeup, so I got his tattoo instead.
