Competitive surfing has been added to the roster of events that have been newly added for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Surfing will be joined by Skateboarding, Karate, Baseball/Softball, and Sports Climbing. For many this has been a lifelong dream, and for some of the U.S. top surfers such as Carissa Moore and John John Florence they will get their chance to represent their country on the biggest stage in sports.
“We spend a lot of time traveling the globe and competing against the very best surfers from around the world on the World Surf League’s Championship Tour,” Carissa Moore, the 3X world surfing champion, explains, “so I don’t think it will change the competition format too much. It’s a great way to elevate the sport I love and share it with people from all around the world.”
To celebrate, Hurley has revealed the Hurley Phantom Hyperweave Elite (USA) Boardshort, available in limited quantities on the Hurley Website for $175.
The Phantom Hyperweave Elite boardshorts offer performance based features such as a single woven waistband with free-floating magwires that provide a comfortable and adaptable fit in any position. A scalloped hem and lightweight stretchy fabric enhance the design, providing even greater range of motion and maximum comfort.
