You got the basics…high ISO, wide open aperture, 30 second shutter. What lens are you using? I use a Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8.
The last and most important thing is light pollution. The last ones I got were on Maui, which has much less light pollution than Oahu (I don’t even try Milky Way shots on Oahu!)
