Nakai invited all owners worldwide to come experience and race with him at the Idlers 2012 12 hour endurance race. I thought about it for a minute and replied, yes I’d love to go. About a minute after the email I remembered how extremely hot the weather was in Japan at this time of the year but I made a promise so I’m here writing about the experience. A good friend, Noah, joined me to experience the awesomeness called Idlers.
6 RWB Teams, 5 drivers per team with a few reserve drivers in this 12 hour race. Driver changes happen every 30 minutes and in the extreme conditions in the car was about 115°F / 46°C with alot of humidity. There was plenty of time for alot of driving but the heat beat down on everyone and took its toll on a few, including myself. In the end, all the cars finished the race and drove back to RWB Headquarters. RWB is more than just a style or a bodykit, its comradery at its finest. Brotherhood.
We met up at RWB Chiba headquarters. Good to see so many people here. They were filming an episode discovery channel when we arrived. Im interested to see how this turns out.
The meeting spot where 20+ RWB Cars were present and all ready to goto IDLERS race at Twin Ring Motegi.
A few of the RWB Cars that weren’t going to be racing but the drivers were all participating in the race.
Nakai just finished Rough Unity for a customer who drove to the event.
Tunerhaus was one of the cars that was used in the 12 hour race. It was probably the fastest of the bunch.
Nakai also just finished this 964 named Tarantula.
A bunch of BOSOZOKU guys were making tons of noise.
Arrived at Twin Ring around 2am. Drivers Meeting at 530 sharp.
Took a quick nap then back at 515 am.
RWB Thailand and Danny from Texas came to race.
Nakai teaching everyone how to gas up. Only 4 people can touch the car while pitting and there’s a mandatory 5 minute wait before the next driver can go.
You might or might not know these guys. Dino who shoots for Speedhunters and Luke Huxham who does video work for Miaham Media
No idea what we’re looking at.
Named Hooters. Not sure why.. do you know? 😉
Unexpected gas stop. Track looks so empty but there were 95 cars that started the race.
Transmission problem but was able to continue.
Rough Unity. Noah was driving this car for the first stint.
After the first 6 hours, the teams switched cars. Here’s Noah & his team with the fire extinguisher ready.
